Louis fell back onto his couch after finally bringing up his last box from the moving truck he had rented. He was finally moving out on his own and living his own life, but the steps to getting there were exhausting.
It was only 8:30am and the fact that Louis had been carrying boxes several floors up since 5 had him want to curl up in his unmade bed and sleep for eternity. He chose to finish the move as early as possible in hopes of unpacking most once night hit.
He was happy with the flat he picked out and was thankful that his mum was kind enough to help him find it. He couldn't have done any of it without her patience and help.
Louis pulled out his phone and noticed several text messages from his mother and sisters asking how his new home was, which Louis happily replied to. It wasn't very big, but it was just the right size for someone living alone. He was eager to put up his decor to make it his own, but he figured that could wait.
Louis noticed his stomach growl and knew he hadn't eaten since the night before, so he grabbed his keys off of the clean, empty counter and made his way to the parking garage where his car now had a lovely spot to call his.
Louis searched through his phone hoping to find some sort of restaurant to catch his eye, and when he finally found one only a mile away from his flat, he turned on the ignition and set off.
He didn't realize how hungry he was until he parked his car and made his way to the entrance, which, much to his dismay, was closed. he read the small sign messily taped to the glass doors.
'Closed for the time being. We are sorry for the inconvenience'
Louis rolled his eyes, annoyed that they wouldn't mention anything on the website before Louis drove there in hopes of getting some food and tea. Once again, Louis pulled out his phone searching for a new place to satisfy his hunger. When his eyes landed on 'Unity Diner: 5 miles away' he groaned in response, wishing it was a tad closer so he could quickly finish up and start unpacking.
Despite him not wanting to drive five miles in the city, he did so anyways. He turned on his radio and hummed softly to the tunes playing throughout the car until he finally came to a stop in a crowded parking lot. It took several minutes to find an empty parking spot, and when he finally found one in the back corner he turned off his car and made his way inside.
Once he was seated he looked through the menu and decided to order waffles and a cup of tea. The diner was packed, but to Louis' surprise the service was quick and he was thankful he got his food so quickly. He ate in silence and looked through his social media considering he had no one to talk to.
Almost finished with his breakfast, Louis put away his phone and decided to quickly finish and get back to his new home. His eyes wandered until they fell upon a boy that looked to be about his age.
His hair was curly and brown, but looked all too messy for the outfit he chose to wear to a local diner. He wore a lilac sweater over a white collared shirt, and he was wearing a dark burgundy/brown coat on top of that. He had a clean strand of pearls wrapped around his neck and what looks to be a 3 day old stubble of facial hair hardly covering around his mouth area.
Louis found the boy attractive and decided to talk to him before having to leave and unpack. He was new to town and knew he needed to make some friends.
Louis made his way over, noticing how the boy was seeming to make some sort of structure out of his waffle. Louis furrowed his eyebrows, seeing it as immature to see a grown man playing with his food, but when he noticed him struggling to make the door sit right, he grabbed a toothpick.
"If you just stick this through the top it will stay put, and you can move it," Louis did as he said and showed off the ability to open and close the makeshift door made out of waffle.
"And why didn't I think of that?" The boy groaned, rubbing his eyes irritatingly.
"Sometimes it just takes an outsiders perspective, don't get too hard on yourself," Louis smiled sweetly, hoping to get the same reaction out of the boy and was pleased when the gesture was returned.
Louis noticed the dimples and thought he had fallen in love right then and there.
"I saw you sitting alone. You can join me if you'd like," Louis smiled, sitting down in the seat across from him and stuck out his hand, "I'm Louis."
"Harry," the boy stuck out his hand and shook Louis' with the same generous smile on his face. Louis couldn't seem to look at anything else other than the way his green eyes would crinkle up and the way they would seem to glisten.
"So, are you an architect," Harry questioned, motioning to the door Louis had created out of a small piece of wood and some food.
"No, actually. Right now I'm looking to open up my own daycare," Louis laughed at himself, realizing how strange that must sound coming from him. There aren't many 28 year old men who's dreams consist of taking care of a bunch of little kids that aren't even his own.
"That's sweet. I would love to work with kids," Harry smiled, taking a drink from whatever beverage was in the mug next to his plate. Louis assumed it was some sort of tea.
"My mum has quite a few kids, and I always enjoyed looking after them," Louis took a drink from his own tea, loving the way harry's smile never seemed to leave his face.
The two continued to talk, and both of them loved every second of it. Louis completely forgot about all of the boxes scattered around his home, but he knew he wouldn't mind as much considering he was speaking with the most lovely human being he has ever met.
Harry was passionate about everything he talked about, and Louis couldn't help but admire him. His eyes would light up the second he began talking about his family.
They had to have spent hours chatting and getting to know each other until the owner of the diner walked up to their booth.
"Harry, love, lunch will be starting soon," Harry nodded and his face was apologetic. Louis wondered how often Harry went to this diner with the owner knowing his name.
"Oh I'm sorry, darling. We'll be on our way," Harry stood up, causing Louis to do the same.
He was shocked to see how much taller Harry was than him and he completely loved Harry's figure and the way he carried himself. The two walked out of the small building, still holding their conversation until they were both standing beside their cars that were conveniently parked next to each other. Louis looked at the time and noticed it being nearly noon. He knew he lost several hours of time to get his house situated, but he didn't mind.
"Would you like to meet me here tomorrow morning, same time?" Harry asked, causing Louis' eyes to grow wide. Louis hardly ever does dates. He's never had a real relationship before and he was shocked that Harry was asking to see each other again so soon.
"I-uh. Sure, yeah I'll be there," Louis opened his car door and made his way in once he saw Harry do the same while smiling.
Louis sat there for several minutes unable to get the boy out of his mind. He had never met anyone like him and he was completely intrigued. He was shocked that they got along so well, but he was thankful nonetheless. The drive home was quick, and Louis wasn't excited to start unpacking, but he knew it had to be done as soon as he walked through the door.
He was able to put together his bed and put his clothes in the designated drawers. He unpacked most of the kitchen utensils despite him rarely cooking his own food. And he had all of his furniture and his tv set up. The place was coming along and Louis finally declared it bedtime once the clock struck 1am.
Before turning off the lamp yon his bedside table, he set the alarm on his phone to 8am, hoping that was enough time to meet Harry at 9. His stomach felt giddy and he was anxious for the next morning, but he decided to sleep on it hoping the feeling would go away by the time he woke up.
