Louis quickly threw on his coat and grabbed his keys off of the counter. he walked out of his flat and into the parking garage where he knew his car would be sitting and waiting for their morning routine.

louis has been continuously going to the diner ever morning for two weeks in attempts to win harry over, even if he wouldn't remember the next day. one simple date every once in a while was enough for louis, but sadly, harry has yet to invite louis to sit and eat with him within those two weeks.

louis wore a simple pair of black jeans, and a nice button up. he decided to shave that morning thinking the new appearance would make harry see something in him. he felt overall good about himself and his appearance and hoped today was the day.

he got in his car and quickly stuck his key in the ignition seeing as he was already later than he usually is. he connected his phone to his bluetooth radio and quietly played a playlist he made dedicated to harry, even though it seems creepy if you spend too much time thinking about it.

once he parked his car in the parking lot he quickly made his way to the entrance, ignoring the fact that he basically sprinted. he sat down at the large bar area that was only a few feet away from harry's regular booth. the younger boy was already seated and enjoying his waffles. louis was upset that he missed the boy making his small house.

louis thought about what he could do and say that would make harry take interest in him that he had not done already. the second an idea popped in his mind he followed through with it.

louis opened up his menu, dipped his fingers in water and splashed it right underneath his eyes to resemble tears. he looked behind his shoulder where the green eyed boy sat before turning back around and looking at the menu.

before his mind could talk him out of the idiocy he was about to make out of himself, he quickly let out a loud whine. he scrunched his face and made it look like he was actually crying.

when he noticed the younger boy not paying any attention to him, he wet his eyes again and let out an even louder cry than the first one seconds prior. Louis checked over his shoulder quickly and saw harry looking back at him. he let out one more loud cry before feeling a hand on his back.

"uh, sir? are you alright?" Louis pretended to be startled despite him knowing exactly who it was behind him. he turned his head and was met with the most breathtaking green eyes.

louis wiped his eyes, getting rid of the remaining fake tears and sniffles loudly. "oh! y-yeah. i'm fine," louis quickly looked down at his menu and silently began his fake cry once again, causing harry to sit beside him while running the older boys back.

"may i ask what's wrong?" harry looked at louis, who refused to make eye contract. he was scared harry would figure out he was fake crying and think of him as a creep.

"it's just- i don't know how to read," Louis slammed his head over his arms that were now folded on the bar top. he began to cry louder, causing harry to grow worried. he soothingly rubbed louis' back and shushed him seeing as all of the other customers were staring.

"hey, let me help."

louis lifted his head up off of his arms and picked up his menu, flipping to a random page. "no, no. i can do it myself"

"w-woul..."

"wafflessss.." harry interrupted the boy after seeing him struggle with the first word.

"e-efffff" Louis raises his eyebrows and squinted while 'trying' to read off another word.

"eggs.." Harry blankly said, astonished at louis lack of common sense to be able to at least sound out eggs.

before anyone could say anything else, louis once again slammed his head down and loudly whined causing harry to roll his eyes. "how about you come to my table, and i can teach you," harry offered, standing up from his seat.

louis nodded his head and followed harry to where the waffles were sitting half eaten, probably cold by then. they both sat down beside each other.

louis kept up with his lie for an hour while harry worked with him patiently. louis thought it was sweet that harry was actually taking his time to teach a grown man to read. he thought harry was doing great at it, too.

after the two had talked, harry announced his need to leave causing louis to frown.

"oh, how come,"

harry grabbed his bag and looked at louis with a smile, "it's my dads birthday. i gotta go get ready for his special day. you were doing good, keep it up"

louis and harry both walked out of the diner. the older lad felt bad for harry, knowing his father wouldn't be at home when harry returned, but he couldn't say anything. louis followed harry up to his car and opened the door so the taller boy could get it.

"i'll see you around," louis slowly backed away from the drivers side door while smiling. he was finally able to have breakfast with harry, even if it was only because of a stupid lie.

harry had his window rolled down and his smile quickly went away while watching louis leave.

"are you kidding?!"

louis turned around confused and noticed harry's furious look. "excuse me?" louis questioned while walking back up to the car door.

"you go through all that. lying about not being able to read, making a scene, making me go through with the obvious lie, and you won't even ask for my number? you know, i thought it would be worth it to talk to you seeing as what you went through to meet me, but you're just as dumb as everyone else," harry angrily put his car in reverse and went to back out.

"n-no. i actually can't- i can't read. the doctor said it-"

"save it," harry rolled up his window and backed out, leaving louis standing there alone in the parking lot. he had no clue what just happened and he wasn't sure if he should be mad at himself, harry, or neither.

he quickly made his way to his car to follow the green eyed boy home, but didn't notice steph on the phone with what seemed to be harry's mum.
