Kai's POV

I walked home through the sudden night that had fallen over the city like the snow that was coming down. I cast my eyes over the bright, twinkling lights and remembered the life I used to live, one of parties and love and fun. The voice in my head, the cold dark feeling, told me I would never get that life back. But... something, something warm and comforting, told me that it was possible. A new start was possible. And with that thought I headed home.

'What the hell, Kailin? It's eight already! And I find it quite strange that you haven't left the house for years and suddenly you're neglecting your duties? Darren had to cover your shift!' My uncle raged as I came through the back door.

'Don't talk to me about that man.' I said in a quiet but strong voice.

'Now what has Darren ever done to you? He's a good, reliable worker and that's more than you've ever been!' He exclaimed.

'You really want to know what happened? Fine.' I told him what happened the night before, growing increasingly upset as the story went on. By the end I was in tears. My uncle took me into his arms and rocked me like a baby.

'It's okay. I'll sort this out. You should go up to your room. You don't wanna see what goes down.' I headed upstairs and texted Graser.

'Hey chocolate boy, you got Skype?' I asked him. He responded almost immediately.

'Yeah, what's your name?' he replied.
' TheCloudyKai' I told him. My phone buzzed. A new friend request on Skype. I smiled and added him to my contacts. I pressed the call button and smiled as I saw his nerdy face appear on the screen.

Graser's POV

I took a deep breath and pressed the button to accept the call. Her worried face appeared.

'Um, Graser? I have to tell you something...'
