New beginnings are always bittersweet. Uncertainty about the future constantly keeps troubling mind. Yet, the new possibilities awaiting individuals, makes them hopeful and determined. Abir and Mishti too, had a lot of questions swirling around in their head. They didn’t know the repercussions of their decision. Would they be able to manage a household? Would they be successful in keeping all their bonds intact? How would their newly formed relation fare out in this phase of their life? Only time would reveal the answers to all these questions. All that Abir and Mishti had, were each other. Hence, they decided to celebrate their first night in their house. Their first night in their own house was simple yet endearing; just like them. Mishti always loved surprising Abir. The twinkle in his eyes while admiring her love for him, warmed her heart. Therefore, she decided to surprise Abir tonight. Her first surprise in their new house, she thought to herself.

Abir had decided to shower after the cleaning up the house. Mishti wisely used the time and executed her plan. The house was duplex. It had beautiful white French windows, allowing abundant breeze to enter the house. Yet, within a few hours of entering the house, Mishti had already found her favourite place. The terrace. Standing on the terrace, she could imagine all her moments with Abir. She rightly guessed that within the coming days, this would be their favourite spot. A place where both of them basked in each other’s warmth and individually spent some quiet time, their hearts seeking solitude. Mishti had found the perfect spot for her surprise. She quickly fetched a mattress from downstairs. Mishti thanked heavens that they had decided to arrange all the necessary furniture, before they settled in the house. She placed the mattress on the terrace and quickly ran down the stairs, entering the kitchen. Though the kitchen wasn’t totally furnished, it had a stove and a few essentials stocked. Kunal had meticulously ensured that Abir and Mishti had all the basic essentials. He specially went down to the their house the day before they moved in to ensure that all necessary furniture was in place and that the kitchen was stocked with basic supplies. She quickly made two cups of coffee. Mishti put her thinking cap on, since there wasn’t a lot to accompany with coffee. She noticed the cream biscuits and vanilla cupcakes lying in the pantry. Mishti’s eyes lightened up as an idea struck her mind. She managed to scrape the cream off the biscuits and applied it on the cupcakes. She grabbed a pen and paper from her handbag and scribbled something. She quietly went to their room and placed the paper in Abir’s nightwear. She sprinted down the stairs and went up to the terrace, to enjoy the beauty of night for a while.
Abir exited the bathroom, wiping himself up with a towel. He quickly dressed up as he didn’t want to keep Mishti waiting on their first night in the house. As he combed his hair, he noticed a origami crane lying on the floor. His face instantly lit up as he knew Mishti had planned a surprise for him. He opened the crane, to read the cryptic message Mishti would always leave for him.

“Unchi hai building, lift toh nahi hai,
Building ki hoti hai chat, par uspar kaun hai, zara dekhkar bataana?”

Abir chuckled to himself at his angry chorni's bad poem writing skills. He hopped up the stairs, to reach the terrace as fast as possible. He saw Mishti standing there with her hands folded and grinning. Behind her, he noticed the mattress that she had spread out. Mishti came to close to Abir, putting her hands around his neck. She said with a mischievous smile, that made Abir weak in the knees, “Welcome to our abode Ajeeb Rajvansh. Yaad hai jab maine tumhe taaron ke neeche, lakeside dekha tha? Aur phir humaari shaadi ki dusri raat, I mean technically first night because main pehle par so gayi thi. Uss din bhi hum taaron ke neeche soye the. We have a very deep connection with stars Abir. It is as if they are narrating a story to us. A story of us. Toh aaj bhi, apni naye ghar ki pehli raat hum taaron ke neeche bitaaynge. Kaisa laga surprise”. Abir was grinning from ear to ear. He pulled Mishti closer to himself by her waist, “I absolutely love it, Angry Chorni. Tumhe pata hai ki mujhe taarein kitne pasand hai. Thank you so much Mishti.” Mishti kissed Abir on his cheek. Abir was amused at his angry chorni's behaviour, “Waah angry chorni! Aaj tum darpok morni nahi bani? Not bad. Aise hi ache ache surprise apne swami ko deti raho baalike.” Mishti hit Abir playfully on his chest, machining him gently, “Shut up Ajeeb Rajvansh. Ab kya aap kripya chalenge mere swami?” Abir chuckled and nodded. Mishti dragged him to their makeshift bed.
