Branch's eyes flickered open. The poor troll was shaking in fear and covered in sweat. Branch had just had a very bad nightmare. He decided to take a shower to calm himself down even though it was in the middle of the night
Branch stepped out of the shower, dried himself, and put on his robe. He could barely get back to his room before he heard some light knocks on the door from above.
*knock, knock, knock.*
"huh?"
He glanced in the direction of the trapdoor. Who could that be? And this late??
He opened the eye slot. His eyes widened when he saw who was standing outside.
" Poppy? What are you doing here?"
He blushed slightly when he realized he was still in his robe.
The pink troll didn't answer. She was standing in her PJ's and it almost seemed like she had closed eyes.
" Uhhh... Poppy...?"
She still didn't answer.
Branch decided to open the trapdoor fully and bring the pink troll inside.
He carried Poppy to his couch where he sat her down. He sat down as well.
He looked at his friend. She didn't seem to be knowing what was going on around her. She didn't really react. That's when it clicked in Branch's head.
She was sleepwalking.
He looked by his side only to find the pink troll gone.
" And here we go again."
Branch sighed and rose from the couch.
The teal troll walked around his bunker looking for his queen.
" N- No! Please don't hurt him!"
Poppy suddenly cried.
Branch followed her voice to find her sitting on her knees in his bedroom.
He raised a brow.
" NO!"
Poppy sobbed in her sleep.
" Branch, please stay with me!"
Branch stopped in his tracks. She was dreaming about him?
He really felt the urge to go and comfort her and tell her it was alright, But he knew it would just scare her since she didn't even have a clue about where she was.
" Please!"
Poppy began pulling on the blanket on his bed.
" I- I love you!"
Branch's eyes widened.
Did she just say that she loved him????
He didn't know what to think. This could just all be a part of her dream and there would be none of those feelings for him in real-life. But most of the dreams you dream reflect the emotions and thoughts in your head.
" Hmph!"
Branch suddenly snapped back to reality. The blanket Poppy had pulled on fell on top of her.
Poppy hummed tiredly trying to remove the fallen object off her.
Branch wasn't sure if she had been awakened by the fallen blanket or not.
" Where am I??"
Poppy looked around and immediately recognized the place.
" Branch!"
She ran to the blue troll and gave him a tight hug, tears falling down her cheeks.
" I thought I had lost you!"
Branch frowned and returned the hug gently.
" H- hey, It's ok... I'm right here. See?"
Poppy broke from the hug and the two of them sat down on his bed.
" How did I get here?"
The queen questioned confused.
" I don't remember having a sleepover with you..."
" well, you were sleepwalking and somehow made it to my bunker... "
Branch suddenly remembered once again that he still was in his robe and Poppy seemed to notice too.
The two trolls blushed lightly.
There was an awkward silence between the two.
" I- uhh.. "
Branch began.
" You seemed to have a nightmare... are you- Do you wanna talk about it?"
He scratched the back of his neck.
Poppy frowned slightly and nodded.
" I-"
Thought suddenly crossed Poppy's mind.
" Did I do anything else other than walking around?"
Branch and nodded.
" You cried and yelled in your sleep..."
" I did?"
Branch nodded once again.
" What did I say?"
Poppy asked embarrassed.
" Well, you told someone not to hurt 'him' ... And.... I kinda came to the conclusion that you meant me since you cried out my name afterward and begged me to stay with you..."
Branch tried to hide the blush that was slowly creeping onto his cheeks at the thought of something else she had said.
Poppy blushed, remembering what she had cried out in her dream.
" Nothing more?..."
" Well, you...."
Branch fiddled with his fingers awkwardly.
" Uhhh.... Y- you said you.... loved me...."
Poppy's eyes widened. She had said that out loud?
" I completely understand if you don't feel the same-"
The two blurted out in unison.
" I- I- what?"
Branch's eyes widened when he noticed.
" I uhhh..."
Poppy blushed.
The two giggled awkwardly.
" I love you."
The two trolls confessed in unison.
The two trolls gazed into each other's eyes.
" You do?"
Poppy smiled.
" yes, I do."
Branch cupped her face with his hands unable to control himself.
" I love you, Queen Poppy."
" I love you too Branch!"
Poppy grabbed his shoulders and the two shared a loving kiss.
