Chapter 30
"I guess sleeping beauty needs a kiss to wake her up."
Jae started to panic yet she still didn't end the act. She kept acting asleep, furiously making her cheeks red as she thought about Skye kissing her.
Skye was watching her in amusement while her face contorts into fear, embarrassed, and then back to sleep all with her eyes shut close. He snickered but couldn't help the blood rising to his cheeks. Did Jae really want to be kissed that she'd still fake that she was asleep? He should just give her what she wants, right?
Skye inched closer to her face, wondering to himself where she'll kiss her. His mind drifted to the moment they shared their first kiss in her room after he drank himself drunk. It wasn't his first kiss that was for sure yet it felt like it was. They never really talked about the kiss after and he could chalk it up to him being drunk and emotionally wasted that he did something so stupid.
Now, they both were sober and sane. How would Jae react if he kissed her right now? Would she forget about it like she did their first kiss? Dang, now Skye really wants to kiss her. His lips were hovering above hers. Any closer and their lips would graze against each other. For some reason, his heartbeat began to race.
Jae couldn't take it anymore. She was intensely screeching inside her mind, screaming into the void. She snapped her eyes open, immediately pushing her arms in front of her with all of her strength. One second more and they would have been kissing right now yet she completely threw that out of the window. Skye fell to the floor with a thump while he sent Jae a glare. "W-what do you think you're doing?!" Jae cried out as her voice was muffled by her hand still on her mouth.
Skye got up and dusted his chest and his back. "You surprised me, sweetheart," he simply stated.
He didn't look surprised at all. His face was neutral, almost exactly like Sam's. It was scarily eerie. "No, you're not," Jae retorted. She placed her palms on her cheek, willing herself to calm down. "What took you so long?"
Skye was upset he didn't get to kiss Jae but then fully pushed that problem aside. He shot her a look. "I was in a meeting."
Jae tried to make small talk as Skye began to rummage in his closet for his phone that he just now realized was missing. "What kind of meeting?"
"I was introduced to investors of our business," he answered. He was too lazy to come up with a way to hide whatever he was doing so he just blurted out the truth. "My grandpa already decided I would take his place as," He thought of a term that could explain it better, "CEO."
Jae sharply inhaled. "That sounds rough. You're too young to think about that."
Skye finally found his phone and pocketed it. He turned to Jae, walked over towards her until they were within spitting distance from each other, and then stared right into her eyes. To say Jae was creeped out was an understatement. Skye was literally staring at her as if he can see into the depths of his soul.
"What are you doing?" Jae asked nervously. She could hear her heart thumping in her chest.
Skye smiled and it made Jae's heart skip a beat. "Do you want to see something amazing?"
"What?"
Skye headed towards the door to his room, gesturing for her to follow him. "I want to show you my favorite thing in the whole world."
Jae hesitated but followed Skye out of his room. They walked along the same hallway with Jae observing if anything had changed. They went past several rooms before taking the steps down. They descended to the ground floor where Skye raised a palm to stop her from moving. She did.
