i stood where sangwoo told me he'd be and sighed in disappointment. am i late? early? or did he just joke about meeting up with me? and more importantly, why am i so upset? i wondered. it had been a few minutes after class and i haven't even seen the group down the long hallway. frowning, i checked the time on my phone and realized i had to leave now if i wanted to get to work a few minutes before my shift started. i sighed to myself and mentally cursed for getting overly excited to talk to people that i didn't even think would show up to begin with. i turned to start walking before i heard a distant "(y/n)!" coming from behind me. i turned around with a hopeful gaze that met sangwoo's dark eyes. i smiled and stood awkwardly as i waited for him to catch up to me.
"hey sangwoo." i said with a smile hoping i properly remembering his name. he smiled back showing me that it was correct and we turned to leave.
"sorry i kept you waiting there.. i had a couple things to go over my teacher with so i let the group go on ahead. hope you don't mind it being us two." he said while glancing down at me. i shook my head dismissively.
"it's fine." i responded. we made our way out of the college with nothing but idle chatter. sangwoo would ask about my interests and hobbies.. just random little details to get to know me and i would do the same.
"so where are you from?" he asked.
"ah i'm from (homeland).. i miss it there." i said as i smiled softly at all the memories and stupid things i had done with friends..
"what made you move here?" he asked.
"parents job." i said simply as my expression darkened at the thought of my family. sangwoo took notice and a certain shine sparkled his dark eyes as if my sudden change in personality had piqued his interest.
"you okay?" he questioned. i froze for a second before shaking my head and smiling.
"just a little lost in thought. sorry that must've been weird." i said with another small smile. we continued our conversation avoiding the topic of family. he opened his mouth to speak when a cop car had pulled up beside us and caught sangwoo's attention. he walked over leaving me to awkwardly stand a foot or two away before i decided to make my way over. i was about to tap his shoulder to let him know i had to get to work when he shot up and turned to me. his eyes hinted panic but his smile said otherwise. i gave him a questioning look before he put his hand on my shoulder.
"ah.. sorry i can't walk you all the way to work. i guess i must've forgotten my cousin was coming to pick a few things up. i.. i'll walk you there tomorrow okay? tell everyone i had to go home please." he said before waving goodbye and leaving me a bit dumbfounded. i blinked a couple times before my eyes fell onto the handsome cop in the passenger seat. we made brief eye contact before i smiled awkwardly at his stone cold serious facial expression and turned to head to work.
after a couple minutes i decided to pick up the pace and start jogging. i was close to the little cafe when i heard recognizable chatter.
"oh hey! that's the girl sangwoo brought." one of the boys called out. i waved as i joined the group who had introduced themselves one by one. the taller perverted male who seemed to have more resistance to his lustful thoughts was named myung and the other was joon. the girl with the heavier makeup and pink hair was named hana. and lastly, the girl that spoke a lot more with the higher pitched voice was named ji yoo but everyone called her yoo. so far, her only redeeming qualities were her gorgeous looks. she was kind of a bitch.
i smiled at them all causing the boys to swoon and i quickly introduced myself as well. after some more conversations which was quickly draining me of all my energy since i'm kind of an introvert, we made it to the cafe.
