"I'm over here" Arya said waved when she saw me walking inside the diner.
"Hey sorry I'm late, you ordered my usual" I said dribbling, looking at the chicken pasta on the table.
"Of course I did" she said laughing.
"So where is this new job?" She asked stuffing her face with the burger she ordered.
"Well Saturday night when I was working, one of our usual customers overheard me talking to Jacob about wanting to get another job during the day and when I went to her table she told me she needed a new housekeeper since her old housekeeper recently resigned because she is moving away.
"So don't you find it's weird that she offered you randomly?"
"And do you actually wanna clean other people's house."
"Well she said that she observed how hardworking and polite I am and she talked to John about me since they are friends and he said I'm the best worker he's ever had and he knows me personally and I'm someone she could trust" I said smiling at John's kind words, he's has been like a father figure since my dad died.
"So John didn't tell you anything about getting a new job?" She asked.
"Well he told me I don't need to he'd give me a raise but he knows that I'm stubborn just like my dad and I don't want special treatment, it's unfair to the other workers"
"Oh Laya, only you would turn down a raise of pay.....So when do you start the housekeeping job?" She asked wiping ketchup from her mouth.
"Tomorrow morning, Mrs Smith took my number and texted me the address and told me come for 6am and she'd show me what I need to do, and she said that I would be free to leave once everything is done so I can still get my rest for work in the evening." I said as I glanced to my watch and checked the time.
"Shit....speaking about work I'm going to be late" I said before Arya could respond.
I immediately stuffed the remaining fries in my mouth and placed the money on the table as ran out waving to Arya
"I told you I'm paying for it" she said out loud. I just ignored her because she never wants me to pay for anything so I usually drop the money on the table and leave before she can shove it back in my purse.

"Hey John, sorry I'm late" I said putting on my name tag.
"Alaya it's only 6:01, I'd be glad if all my workers considered 6:01 late" he laughed
"I saw your aunt when I was driving home yesterday, how is she treating you?" He asked.
"Well umm I guess she's okay" I said.
"I hope she is treating you well or I'd pay her a visit" he said with a serious tone.
"She is don't worry" I lied. When my dad died he offered me to come and live with his family but he's already done so much for me I didn't want to intrude and that's when Aunt Carla came in and decided she would stay with me.
"Okay Alaya well you could serve the vip section tonight since Elise and Jacob is already handling the rest. We had plenty staff but Elise, Jacob and I were the main waiters since we've been here the longest and customers are accustomed to us.
"Ay ay captain" I said and he laughed.
I went into the changing rooms and changed into my black skirt and my white blouse, picked up the menus and headed towards the VIP section.
