Fruits Basket - Battle Against Akito And The Zodiacs

Chapter 1 | Garden

                        

Lately Yuki spent the most of his time in his garden. It was just a small vegetable garden that he once grew strawberries in for his best friend Torhu.

He was sitting down on the dry grass facing the new sprouting plants with his knees to his chest and his arms around his legs. His white garden gloved hands were intertwined.

He was staring past the bloomed evergreen trees and into the beautiful red and pink setting sun that he would describe as what being completely at peace would be like.

He wished he could watch a sunset forever. Not only was it peaceful but it made him very calm and it was a great thing to let your worries free and just close your eyes and take in the smell of the sweet grass and the refreshing breeze while it cools your mind of the constant troubles in life.

He made his mind stop thinking and just took in the moment. At 6:47pm where nothing mattered and everything was okay.

He had another hard day. First he woke up from a nightmare feeling like crap. Second he had to go to school with the annoying Kyo and the constant yelling from Momiji because of Kyo. Then he got home and got into another argument with Kyo because of something stupid ( like always ).

He came to his garden to refresh his mind and it worked as it usually does.

Yuki let the time pass by. He watched as the shining sun set behind the horizon. When it disappeared he unfolded his hands and used his right hand to lift him from the ground. He stood up and brushed the grass off his hand on the side of his pants.

He took one more moment before he headed back to the house to look up at the now starry night sky. He loved sunsets more than sunrises because sunsets symbol everything at rest. Calm, quiet, and still.
Everything in motion wasn't always good for him. He didn't handle change well, even though lately he's trying to face his fears with everything, especially with Akito.

"Yuki?"

He turned around as he heard the sweet voice of his best friend Torhu Honda. He didn't even hear her walk this way.

"Dinners ready" she said happily with a smile following.

How does she keep it together all the time?
After something so tragic as losing her own mother, how can she smile like she just won a million dollars?
She really is unbelievably strong. I wish I could have a piece of her strength.
Yuki thought to himself

"Everything ok?" Torhu says her face changed and filled with concern.

"Oh.. yeah its.. great" he says while walking closer to her.

"Have you ever seen a sunset before?" He asks while stopping in front of her.

" Yes, I see them on way home from work everyday." Another happy smile forms on her face.

"No.. I mean.. a real full sunset. Where all you do is watch and take it all in."

"Um...well when you put it that way I guess I haven't." She puts her hands together in front of her.

"Follow me here after school tomorrow and I'll show you one. It will be fun." He says with a small smile while walking past her to the house.

He keeps walking while he looks down at his hands. His uses his right hand and pulls his glove off his left one while feeling his thumb nail scrape his palm.

" I wouldn't want to burden you. You look so peaceful down there by yourself. I wouldn't want to mess that up" Torhu says while catching up to him.

" You're not a burden to me. Come on, It will be great. It won't disappoint" he says with another small smile. He takes the other glove off and puts them in his pocket.

They walk to the house together.
