"What is it?" He huffed out, anger spilling from his mouth.

Vivienne flinched a bit, suddenly overwhelmed by his hatred even though she should have been used to it. It was as though venom poured out of his tone, flames of anger spewing from his body, and the world shook around him. She had never seen him this irritated or infuriated.

Even Samuel was shocked by the way this man talked to Vivienne, his fist clenching at the sight. No one should be able to treat a women with such disrespect.

"I just-I simply wanted to introduce you to a friend of mine," Vivienne had thought that perhaps this little embarrassment that the two had would bring them closer together. Even if it was the tiniest of progress, she was sure that us would be enough. Frankly, she found it rude not to introduce another friend to a friend.

Friend.

Was Miles Edgeworth even her friend?

Did she fail to recognize the signs of kindness as friendship?

Was this whole situation just a made up fantasy that her mind had created?

Was this all simply pity?

"But you know what, never mind," Vivienne's voice got lower and quieter towards the end, "Sometimes I forget how cold you are."

Despite how barely audible her voice got, Miles heard it loud and clear as it echoed in his head. And despite how much he found her presence alone obnoxious, he couldn't help but feel hurt by the comment.

"Sorry for the inconvenience," Vivienne didn't sound like her usual cheery self, and Samuel had taken notice to that. He'd never seen her so subdued due to a simple snap from an irrelevant human before. She's usually such a ray of sunshine, no one could dim her light. This was Vivienne we were speaking of. "Let's go Sam."

With that, Samuel helped Vivienne into the car and drove off, leaving a rather struck Miles Edgeworth to reminisce of the event that had just occurred.

"What was all that about," Samuel asked Vivienne as he drove the direction towards his own household.

"Nothing to worry yourself over," Vivienne responded, staring out the window and thinking over the events that had just occurred. What an embarrassment, she thought, to think that Miles Edgeworth would be willing to cooperate as friends. It wasn't the fact that she had almost succumbed to the darkness or that she had to phone a friend to pick her up. It was the fact that she had thought so incorrectly towards the path of friendship she could have possibly developed. God, I'm such a fool, Vivienne thought to herself, twirling her thumb in the palm of the hand to create little circles of comfort.

"So, who was that?"

"Nothing to worry yourself about that either"

Samuel huffed in frustration, but decided not to push against the statement. He knew better than to prod the bear with a stick. "Anyways," his voice trailed off, "How's work been!? How's the city? What's new with you sugar cube?"

Vivienne couldn't help but let out a chuckle. Samuel always knew how to lighten the situation. And he always knew how to make her feel better.

"Ugh, is it work," Vivienne huffed, recalling the piles of folders she still has to go through stacked neatly on her desk. It would take her days before she was able to read through every case, but it was time she had to spare. "Sometimes I feel like moving back"

"You always could you know," Samuel mentioned.

He always was trying to find a way to bring Vivienne back. Samuel originally lives in Sacramento, but travels often for work here in Los Angeles. It was one of the reasons why Vivienne chose this place rather than any other area. At least she'd have company; sometimes.

"Yeah, yeah, don't start again with that whole nonsense," She buzzed off, switching her gaze towards the window. Large buildings etched with colorful bricks and monochrome concrete decorated the city. Large palm trees and furry bushes rooted into the ground. Lights that could be seen from miles away. Los Angeles was definitely not Sacramento. She missed it.

But she would never go back.

She couldn't help herself.

Maybe one day, when the trauma is healed, she'll return. But for now, Los Angeles will have to do.

"Well, here it is. I have to head back to work in a bit, but I'll call you later?" Samuel said with a smile as he pulled up to Vivienne's makeshift home.

"Of course. Thank you for the ride," Vivienne gathered her items and went straight for her door. She jumped everything she had onto the floor before crashing onto the sofa, letting the exhaustion finally hit her. Today was one of the most stressful and intense days Vivienne has had in a while. She usually does well with taking care of her health, knowing very well of her condition. But the recent move, new job, and alterations of lifestyle had left Vivienne scatter minded. All she could do now was let sleep welcome her with open arms.

Miles was left tossing and turning that night. Something about today had left a bad taste in his mouth. After a few more minutes of attempting to sleep, he trudged out of bed with a huff. Grabbing his coat, he headed outside to his balcony, letting the piercing blue moonlight kiss his skin. It was a full moon tonight, and the sky looked beautifully lit. Somehow the regular clouded fog of pollution had lifted tonight, letting the dark night sky illuminate the area. The sight was enough to take anyone's breath away. And all Miles could think of was how beautiful Vivienne would look watching it with him.
