You and Tanjiro were now in Asakusa, Tokyo, well, with the latter not looking so great. It seemed that this was the first time he'd ever been in a city and you weren't one to judge since you have been given the information that he and his family used to live up on the mountains.
Red flames encompassed your whole form for overusing your quirk in such a short amount of time back when you and your fellow demon slayer fought that demon that can split itself into three. The fight didn't take that long, to be honest. With the use of your white fire, which was the strongest part of your quirk, and your instincts, you were somehow able to throw all those fireballs at those creatures with great aiming. It didn't take that long for them to say their final farewells to this world and just like that, they were gone because of you.
The only repercussion was because of you using the burliest attribute of your quirk, you were left with the red fire enveloping you as a whole since you lost some of your ability to control it temporarily. It was fine for you and all, but those that were peering at you were quite bothersome.
"There are so many people.. Let's go there L/n, Nezuko!" And as soon as Tanjiro dragged you and his sibling towards that alley, you were soon led far away from it once Tanjiro's eyes saw those two commit.. horrifying acts, "I beg your pardon!" He shrieked as as he ran away with his two companions.
It didn't take too long before you three reached an udon shop with no one acting as its its customers. The bald man, who you assumed was its owner, was sitting there leisurely smoking.
"Excuse me. A bowl of udon with grated yam on top, for three please," you did the honor of stating the orders since Tanjiro didn't look like he was in the best condition to even speak. You were still lit with fire and the bald man stared at you curiously, wondering if you were a part of some circus act before proceeding to making your orders.
"I've never been to a place like this. It's way too crowded.." The burgundy-haired male languidly muttered, utterly exhausted from all those running. "I just can't imagine how you'd fare with being in Shinjuku.." You commented with a chuckle. Like, seriously, that place was so packed that you could only ponder in wonder as to how people even managed to move there.
With Nezuko dozing off, your eyes widened once you felt her head resting on your shoulders. Your optics soon returning to its original size, a smile crawling itself past to your lips. Tanjiro held the same expression, though his eyes swirled with nothing but fondness as he gazed at his sister and his newly-found companion.
"Here's your udon with grated yam on top!" Finally! You were starving as hell that you could even eat a horse at this state. "Thank you very much," you and Tanjiro said your gratitude to him in unison, bowls of udon now held by your hands.
You were contently slurping the contents of your food, when suddenly, the sound of glass breaking caught your whole attention. Tanjiro was in apparent shock. He knew this scent, and he was sure of its owner. Beads of sweat formed along his forehead and the crevices of his brows as his breath turned haggard. Without wasting any minute nor second, he bolted towards the direction the smell was coming from.
You were still in some sort of a trance before you finally snapped out of it. With you placing the bowl on the counter, instead of dropping it, you went after Tanjiro wondering why the hell he acted that way.
"Hoi, Tanjiro!" You called out his name yet it didn't do anything for he didn't even falter on his steps and acknowledge your voice. With how frantic he was being, you could only assume that this thing that made him act like this was really important. Really important that Nezuko was forgotten by him..
And oh no, you two left Nezuko behind! You could only pray that she'd be alright, plus, you somehow trust that baldy even the slightest bit that he wouldn't dare do anything to Nezuko.
As you ran and ran, your mind made up reason regarding why he was like this. Maybe it was because of that Muzan? One name whom you heard when Tanjiro and Urokodaki were conversing one night. You may or may not have heard that this was the one who was the progenitor of all demons and that this man may or may not have caused the tragedy that took place within the Kamado's household.
Tanjiro finally found his target, and he placed a hand on their shoulders to catch their attention. You now have caught up to him, now panting and using your knees as a support because with your non-replenished energy and tiredness slowly embracing you, you were not in your most optimal state.
The man wearing the white fedora turned, his red hues glowing in a menacing kind of way, a frown deeply set upon his face. His hair was curled and his body adorned a black suit. Narrowing your eyes at him, you saw the resemblance between him and the deceased Michael Jackson.
No, this isn't the time for that!
Tanjiro began to draw his sword and you were fast enough to keep him from doing so, disapprovingly shaking your head because he was acting with such haste, and just in time for a child's voice to be heard.
"Daddy? Who's that?"
The horror-struck look on Tanjiro's face was hard to miss, and it was only now did you realize that this was the Muzan. And after knowing just how powerful this man was made you stagger in your own steps. The slightly growing flame around you didn't help your case either.
But if he's the king of all demons and he was carrying a child, blending in with the crowd of people- this means that everyone in the whole vicinity is in danger! Yet even though you have concluded that fact, you weren't able to do anything since you were in the same state as the scar-faced male was.
"Is there something I can do for you? You seem to be quite flustered." You could feel the male's ruby eyes flitting towards you for a moment, before it disappeared as soon as it came. But that second worth of gaze was enough to terrorize you.
Just how can he be so intimidating?!
"Oh my, what's going on?"
"Mother!"
'The girl and the woman.. They're all humans..' Tanjiro felt bile forming within his mouth, his other hand covering it and his free one clutching his stomach for he was too petrified with the turnabout of events. You placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to keep your voice as levelled as you can, hoping that fear didn't trickle itself out from the way you spoke. "Tanjiro. Get ahold of yourself," and you knew you were being hypocritical as of the moment because you weren't exactly the best as well when it comes to veiling your perturbed visage.
"Do you know them?" The woman beside the man clad in black asked.
"No." If his optics just passed you awhile ago, this time, his focus was only directed at you. Perhaps this was the case because of the blazing red encasing youㅡ pure curiosity getting the hold of him.
"Much to my consternation, I've never seen them before."
His claws appeared and and you immediately took note of that. That can't mean anything goodㅡ
His hands were too quick for the normal human eyes to comprehend, but you've already come into terms years ago that you didn't exactly fit into that category..
Your teeth gritted in dismay. Had you been fast enough, then maybe you could've prevented this from happening. But the man biting the woman's shoulder and her voice filled with agony entering your ears made it clear to you that now wasn't the time for regrets.
Damn you, Muzan!
