chapter 2

It was a well known fact that demons can only be killed by:

1.) Basking under the presence of the sun;

2.) Having their heads chopped of clean using a nichirin blade since other blades wouldn't work.

However, just because these two are the only known things to defeat the demons doesn't mean that these are the only ways.

They can also be defeated if they are exposed to heat ranging from 1500 to 3000° celcius.

"W-What is that thing?" you whispered underneath your breath as you couldn't take your eyes off of the monster slowly walking, its steps producing loud thumping that you were sure it can be heard even from miles away. You stood still, shocked. Would today really be the day wherein you'd be lying on the ground, six-feet under?

You still had many dreams. You wanted to spar with Bakugou, to eat with Midoriya and the others during lunch, to introduce new things to Todoroki and see once again his smile, to be the number one Pro-Hero in all of Japan.. You still wanted to do and accomplish those things. But if you wanted to, you needed to survive this hellish place and find a way to finally go back home!

You ignited your hands with blue flames, ready to fight back if necessary. This caused Tanjiro's eyes to look at you, his eyes settling on the nervous expression plasted on your face. Then, he turned his attention to the fire encasing your hand. It looked marvelous, if he'd say so himself. But, he knew just enough the blue flames are hotter than any kind and he knew well enough to not go near it nor touch it.

"W-What's this huge demon doing here?! They didn't even tell us that these things exists here!" one examinee shouted as it fled for his life. Unfortunately, he tripped, only staring at the demon as if he was waiting for his life to end. To say that it was a giant was an understatement. And is ate away the remainings of the corpse he had in hand, it grew larger in size, large enough for it to extend its hands towards the boy and take a hold of its ankle dragging it before lifting it.

You gulped. Should you be a wimp right now, and probably be able to save your own life by not doing anything? Or should you save the examinee and fight like a true hero would? "Oh, fuck it!" you shouted as your whole body was now enveloped in flames, the color blue to be exact. The monster was too slow to catch your movements, and before he knew it, your hands grazed the ones that is lifting the boy, with the demon's arms being engulfed into flames and in return, it went limp, creating time just enough for the captured boy to escape.

Tanjiro'e eyes widened for the umpteenth time. Looks like the girl he's just met is stronger than him in terms if willpower- Before he could dwell on his thoughts too much, he jumped right after you. "Miss are you alright?" he asked as he checked to see if you have any injuries on your body. "Y/n. And no, surprisingly," you chuckled.

"Tanjiro, and-" he was cut off with the demon speaking. Both of your attention is now placed on the monster as it opened its mouth to speak. "Looks like another little fox has come once again," it laughed. Tanjiro whispered 'another', as if he was questuoning the usage of the said word. "Little fox, what year is it now?" it asked.

"It's the Taisho Period!" Tanjiro answered. Your eyes never left the huge being talking. If you were to zone out, even for just a second, who knows what could happen! It seems that the demon was in distress since it scratched its own skin over and over again 'til blood drew out. It looked like as if it was a toddler not getting what he wants and in return, causing a rampage.

The two exchanged a few more words, the demon and Tanjiro, and the examinee butting in at certain times. However, you concentrated on the next move you were going to make if the demon were to attack you. The flames enveloping you grew larger and larger. Tanjiro would've had noticed it if he wasn't that caught up with his anger.

Tanjiro attacked the demon with such speed, yet even untrained eyes would've noticed that his movements were a bit off. Your jaw tightened once you saw the arms of the demon that has lifted up to try and attack Tanjiro. You tried to move but your feet was in place. And you knew, that no matter how much you tried to act as if you were strong, your fear would always catch up with you.

The demon whipped its arm towards Tanjiro's stomach, causing the boy to fly a few meters back before hitting a tree, causing him to be unconscious. His mask was now broken and blood pooled below him. "Ah, another brat has now fallen. I could just wonder how Urokodaki's face would look like once he's heard of this news," it cackled as it tried to grab Tanjiro.

However, his moves were halted by you.

The other examinee ran out by now, and you could just scoff at how scaredy cat the boy was. Wel, you couldn't really blame him though. You jumped in the air to attack the demon. "Inferno's Purgatory!" you shouted. You released huge fire surrounding your body, with it just enough to intensely burn the enemy. You then spun, creating a spherical explosion that you weren't even sure if it would work. As you came closer, you tried to make all his limbs catch on fire. It did, however, as soon as one goes out, it just regenerates. Its body was too big for it to be truly affected, unlike the demon you've fought awhile back.

"Shit, Tanjiro!" you didn't know why you called out for his name. You don't expect him to come help you since well, who are you exactly? You were just a person who arrives in this world out of the blue, with strange powers if it were a bystander's eye.

You were too busy with your thoughts, when you were forced backwards due to to its arms colliding with your chest. 'Tch, I lost concentration.' you thought as your back hit the ground harshly. Happiness came over you though once you realized that Tanjiro is back at it again.

He cut off each limbs that came towards him, and jupped when he smelled the scent of a demon underground. You tried to stand up, as you did, you could just hear Recovery Girl scolding you for going all out and ended up being heard. You dismissed all pain as you ran towards the redhead.

"Tanjiro!" you yelled his name, and he nodded, as if he understood what message you were trying to convey and prepared his next attack. You jumped mid air, producing flames larger than what you were encased in before. You formed your hands into an ok-like sign before bringing it closer to your lips.

"Total Concentration: Water Breathing, First Form, Water Surface Slash!"

"Inferno's Roar!"

As you blew on your hand, the fire went straight to the demon. Its intensity far greater than before causing it to scream in agony, and not long after that, Tanjiro came in the scene as he slashed demon's head off. The action done much easier since the flames surrounding him are causing the demon to weaken.

"I-It's all over now.. I'm alive!" you exclaimed as you launched back on the ground as you fell on your knees, a grin on your face.
