Song for this chapter: Skillet 'Monster'
********************************************
I wanted to scream, but it was frozen inside of my throat.
Staring back at me through the window was a man in a ski mask. His black eyes made me feel like I was being pulled down into them.
The glass of water in my hand fell to the floor and shattered into pieces. The man cocked his head to the side, seeming amused at my reaction. he put a fingers on his lips, mocking me.
"Hello, songbird. Won't you sing a pretty song for me, flutter your wings?"
Finally the scream that had been building up in my throat burst out.
''Aaaahhhhhh! JASON!!"
Immediately both the unknown man and Jason scrambled up; masked man leaped away while Jason ran to my side, yelling for Storm to stay put.
"What's wrong?" he had his handgun out, a 9mm, pointed down towards the ground, knowing that I wouldn't act like this unless there was real danger.
I pointed frantically at the window and then the door. He got the message.
Even as he bolted to the door, I already knew Jason was to late. The masked man would be long gone by now.
Coming in the kitchen, Storm saw me slide to the floor with my back against the wall, tears streaking down my face.
"What happened? Melody? Shh, it's alright," she said comfortingly as she wrapped her arms around my shoulders. "Whatever it was, it's gone, and won't come back. Not with Jason here."
"But they did come, Storm. And that is terrifying."
"What are you talking about, Melody? What happened?"
I couldn't meet her eyes. Storm, my closest friend since I had moved here, didn't know the truth about me. Even Jason didn't, not really. He only knew that I had been kidnapped and escaped about a year ago, and i thought that the same people were after me again.
I felt horrible for not telling her the truth, and Jason all of it. But I couldn't. I had to protect them.
I needed to leave. I would pack my essentials, and just go. Fly. It wasn't the first time I had had to do this. Twice before. But it was never as hard as it would be now; With Jason, and Storm, I had so much more to lose.
"Melody? I need you to tell me exactly what happened. it was Jason.
