We were in a village in Africa. We heard that a drought had plagued the village for many years and many were suffering from dehydration.
We were sent here in hopes that we could figure out what the problem was and help them in whatever way possible until the problem was solved.
Once we reached though, the problem seemed to be really obvious.
Crystal's POV
When we arrived, I immediately saw the problem and realised the reason why they sent the two of us here.
"Chris... This is..."
"I know..."
"What is this?"
I heard from our commander that this village was in the suburbs and was still very underdeveloped so there were no tourism spots whatsoever.
But this...
This is so not what we were told.
There is a water playground here...
Water playground... Does that mean that they had a drought and resources were used for such a thing...
"Probably..." I muttered to myself
"I see some water inside."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, but there's not a lot of it. I think I see a person there too. He's talking on the phone...." He trailed off.
"What's wrong?"
"He's wearing a suit..."
"In this heat!? Are you sure? Lemme see!"
He passed the binoculars to me and I saw a man in a suit talking on the phone in front of the playground.
"He looks like the man-in-charge and he looks like someone we absolutely loathe."
"So you thought he looked the same as that person too?"
"Yeah. He looks exactly like that person, Mr Pumpkins."
Then I saw him moving. "He's going into his car. He's leaving. Once he leaves, we'll start our investigation."
"Okay."
After a few moments, he was out of our line of sight and was moving away from the village, which was to our advantage. We wouldn't want him knowing that we were here.
"Do you see any guards or cameras?" I asked
"No."
"Good. Then let's go."
By the way, if you didn't know, we were hiding behind a huge rock while we were spying on Mr Pumpkins.
We went around the village, looking for people but there was absolutely no one around. There was almost no sound. Almost...
We heard the sound of a rifle being lifted the moment we stepped through the village's gates.
We sighed... Why does this happen to us all the time?
We put our hands up and turned around to face the person holding the rifle.
"We're just here to look around. We're not going to do anything. We're just trying to help you." Chrys tried to negotiate with them but as always, it didn't work and we were on our way to the Chief's hut with a rifle to our backs.
Chrys' POV
I sighed. Why do our negotiations never go well? Maybe because they aren't exactly negotiations...
Well... at least we reached the Chief's hut safely, kind of...
"Who are you?" The chief asked
"We are here to help. We know you have been suffering from drought and have brought water to be amongst your people. Although it will not last long, it will be able to prevent many of your people from dying of dehydration." Crystal stated.
After my failed negotiations, she always takes over for me.
He seemed to think over what we said and asked "Are you from the organisation SIU?"
Me and crystal exchanged glances before answering, "Yes."
"I see. Let them go." He ordered, "I've heard much about you from Tom."
"Mr Alexander Tom?"
"Yes. Now down to business, how much water do you have?"
"We have 20 bottles of 500 ml of water."
"Oh. That will last us for quite a while as long as Mr Pumpkins doesn't find out.He is the one who built that playground even though we don't have a regular supply of water."
"Hmm... We don't actually have a solution for that yet. We need to get more info first."
"Okay. Let's give out the water first before I tell you what I know."
