"Whos Trevor?" My grandfather asked curiously. "Hes a student in my class that I have to do a project with." "Whys he inviting us to dinner then?" "Technically his mother Martha asks." "Trevor's father works for me. Remember Frank Slater hes one of the bosses for communication and something else that I don't remember on top of my head." My Uncle states. "Oh. That would be ok. I would love to have dinner with them." My grandfather says. "Alright I'll text Trevor saying we'll be there." I say taking my phone out of my pocket. "You have his number?" Uncle Mark asks raising his eyebrows. "Don't make a big deal out of it. Its for the project." "Sure" My grandfather tells me and I walk away hearing them laugh at my reaction.
Trevor's POV
"Dude. Kelseys cute." Luke says as we are in the locker room. "Dude shes a loner and a loser probably poor too." Sam says. "Shut the hell up Sam no one asked for your opinion." Dennis says before I can. "Wow does someone have a crush on the loner." Sam says taunting him. "Cause sorry to tell you don't forget the bet is still on." He adds reminding me. "I haven't forgotten, my mother invited her and her family over for dinner tomorrow night." I say smugly. "Damn you work fast." Sam says and high fives me I glance at Dennis and he shakes his head looking down Sam leaves and i walk over to Dennis. "Yo whats wrong?" I ask him. "You really don't see whats wrong with playing with a girls feelings?" He asks and I shrug.
"Whats the big deal?" I say a little annoyed. "Do you know how she'll feel when she finds out. I just don't want you to regret this." He says walking off and I'm left with my thoughts as everyone leaves until I get a text from Kelsey saying that she'll be there tomorrow with her grandfather and Uncle. I text her back saying great with a smiling face emoji. I grab my helmet walking to the team and getting ready for the game.
Kelsey's POV
I have texted him and he say good with a smiling emoji and I smile at that. I walk into the dining room and sit on the other side of the table across from my Uncle who sits next to my grandfather who sits at the head of the table. "Do you have plans tomorrow sweetie?" Grandpa asks me. "Not really I just have to go see Doctor Kelly in the morning, I should be done by 11 if you wanted to do something." I say eating the pasta infront of me. "Alright. Hows that going anyway are you making progress?" He asks. "Yeah. I mean I still have nightmares but not as frequently as before." "Are you still having flashbacks during the day?" "Dad stop" My uncle tried to help the situation. "Its fine Uncle Mark. I still have them but I've only been going for a year and a half." "I know. But she should be helping with those going away thats the point of the therapist."My grandfather says and I take a deep breathe "Dad we are taking it slow with this. Lets just drop it for now." My uncle comes to my rescue my grandfather takes the hint and we continue talking about the business and school until dinner is over.
"I was gonna get some ice cream, would you like any Kels?" My uncle asks. "No thank you. I'm gonna go get ready for bed and read till I get tired." I say yawning. "Ok goodnight and I'm sorry for your grandfather. He just wants the best for you." He says. "I know. Goodnight I'll see you in the morning." I kiss his cheek and I make my way upstairs stopping in the living room to say good night to my grandfather.
"Hey Kelsey. I'm sorry for dinner, I need to understand that its not gonna go away over night." He says and I sit next to him on the couch. "I know you are grandpa and it won't go away over night but the therapist is helping slowly but she is helping." I tell him and give him a side hug. "I just wanted to say goodnight before I went to bed." I say getting up. "Goodnight sweetie. I was gonna ask can I drive you to therapy tomorrow" He asks me looking hopefully. "Sure then after we can get lunch." I smile at him and he nods smiling. "That would be lovely. Well you get to bed goodnight sweetie Love you." "I love ya too grandpa." He smiles at me. I guess hes still not use to me saying that which it did take me awhile to even be able to be in a room alone with my grandpa or uncle.
I walk upstairs to my bedroom and check the windows and changing into my pjs. I pick out my clothes for tomorrow and lay them out on my desk. I see a picture of my mother and I when I was younger lifting it up against my chest tears threatening to run down my cheek. "I miss you mom. I wish he was the one who died instead of you." I say and walk to my bathroom washing my face and getting into bed hoping not to have nightmares again tonight.
Trevor's POV
We won our game. "Great game son!" My dad says as he and my mom meet me outside of the school. "Thank you" I say as I see my mother looking around. "Who are you looking for honey?" My dad asks her. "I'm looking for Kelsey to see if shes coming to dinner tomorrow." "Oh She'll be there with her Uncle and Grandfather she told me earlier." I tell her and my father smiles. "Thats great. I can't wait to meet them and that girl is wonderful I wish you would date a girl like her." He says and I roll my eyes. "Hey Martha and Frank." Dennis walks over throwing his arm around my shoulder. "Will you be coming to dinner tomorrow Dennis Luke can come aswell but not Sam." My mother says. "I would love too but I an't family dinner. Trust me if Sam was going Kelsey wouldn't be there." He says and I elbow him. "Does she not like Sam or something?" Dad asks looking at me. "She just doesn't like him and hes a jerk to her." I state. "Well he shouldn't be mean to her I have a feeling that theres more to her than what we see." My mother says.
"Alright enough of talking about Kelsey lets go I'm tired and hungry." I say. I tell the boys bye and walk to my car and leave picking food up on my way home.
