Singto's POV

Krist... Krist Perawat.

I know him.

Rather, I've known him for quite some time now, been keeping my eyes on him since the moment I first saw him last year...

"Will you put that damned book away for once and tell us where the hell we find a drummer!?!"

And the book in my hand was yanked and thrown on the floor, just like that.

My patience was seriously running thin...

Why would anyone think they could get away after doing something like that...? To the Head of Cheerleaders no less...

I looked up and stared at Drake, my cheermate and, since a moment ago, the intruder of my peace. Stared hard at him for 1...2...3-

"Oh... ALRIGHT!"

Dude could really hold out for that long huh?

He picked up the book and handed it over to me.

"I'm sorry! But look! It's already half-past eight, and we need a drummer within two hours, or else we are DOOMED!"

He started tugging his hair with both hands, and the pure distress etched on his face made me feel a tinge of sympathy towards the fella.

"It's been taken care of", I said.

There were some shuffling noises around the room and then complete silence...

Where was it...? Ah here... Chapter 8...

I continued reading from where I stopped.

The guy seated at my right, ...what was his name again...? Ah nevermind, can't be bothered..., spoke up this time.

"What do you mean taken care of?"

Sigh! This is frustrating...

I placed the bookmark on the page I was reading, and shut the book close with a thud.

Woah, did that dude just jump on his seat?! What does he even take me for?!

"How many meanings could that simple sentence possibly have?"

I couldn't help the sarcasm from dripping down each and every word of mine even if I wanted to, not that I really did either.

"B-But-"

"Singto! Here's the guy! Our new drummer!"

Frank, my closest friend in the cheerleading group, barged into the common room, tagging the new drummer for our cheerleading squad behind him, assuming what he just said was true.

I turned towards the others in the room and gestured my hand towards the two guests in mock expression, with an eyebrow raised, for better effect. Their faces held expressions of awe.

Fucking finally!

With my job done, I walked to one corner of the room and opened Chapter 8 again...

Where exactly was I now...

I faintly heard Frank speaking up again.

"His name is Krist, a freshman and from the Co-operative Economics Department. Krist! Please make yourself feel comfortable around us, yeah?"

There was no confirmation heard, so I guess he must've nodded his head.

How did Frank even manage to get the boy to say yes to this mess? It was just yesterday that he said he found "The One" to be our drummer, and I just followed along with his idea, since I had no other option left. But obviously I had zero faith on whether it'd work out, since who in their proper mind would ever agree to this at such a time?! Sending off Frank as a drummer was my backup plan, not that he knew anything of this. Thank goodness there was no need for me to resort to that, cz I doubt he has ever held a drumstick in his life. I wonder what lies this poor kid has been fed by Frank, for him to get landed on such a situation. With such thoughts going through my mind, I couldn't help but shake my head in pity for the boy.
