An Uninvited Guest

The day didn't start off as great for Jay at all. Someone had to smash the alarm clock so hard that it exploded right near Jay's ears. So now Jay had a headache, great. It was also Cole's day to cook.

Yeah, so it wasn't a great day.

As Jay entered the kitchen, he saw Cole hovering round the saucepan, looking proud at the bubbling pot of poison before him. Kai was talking quietly with Nya who was looking bored with their conversation. Zane and Lloyd weren't present. Most likely trying to escape Cole's cooking and Sensi Wu was being Sensi Wu, drinking tea.

Jay slumped down in a chair at the table, and laied his head on the table. "Hey Jay are you okay? You kinda look dead."

Jay lifted up his head to see Kai looking at him in slight concern and Nya looked almost as If she didn't care. Oh right, he and Nya had a fight, again yesterday. Wonder how long it's going to be for her to forgive me this time.

"Oh I'm fine just got woken up by someone smashing the alarm clock in my ear and now I suffer an amazing headache. I'm just peachy." Jay replies sarcastically.

Kai scratches his neck sheepishly, "Sorry about that, but that clocked totally got what it deserved."

Jay sighed and laid his head back on the table when Sensei Wu spoke up. "Maybe some of my tea will settle your troubles."

Wu pours a cup of tea and placed it beside Jay. "An unsettled mind can corrupt your way of thinking."

Jay takes the cup, "Thanks Sensei Wu but it's only a headache I don't have anything 'unsettling' in here."

Jay took a few sips of tea and grimaced when Cole announced loudly that "breakfast" was ready.

The black ninja laid out a piping hot bowl of chilli before them and started on his own, it probably didn't even affect him as it was gone within minutes. Who even eats chilli for breakfast???

Kai shot his sister a worried glance as Jay tried not to gag at the fumes that hit his nose. I mean Cole is my best friend so I guess I'll take one for the team.

As luck would have it, at the same moment Jay was about to take a spoonful, Zane and Lloyd came through the door with what Jay noticed was takeout from Chen's noodle hut.

Jay's mouth grew wide into a grin as he dropped his spoon and ran to his saviours, taking some food off of their hands, "And here I was thinking we'd been forgotten!"

Lloyd winked at him, "Couldn't let Cole do all the cooking could we? One sick Ninja is fine, the whole team is a problem!"

Wu nodded his head at his nephew and place down his tea to speak, "Even in times of peace we will prepare for the ever coming darkness. Today that darkness is Cole's cooking. "

As everyone laughed at Sesnei Wu's comment, Cole was frowning.

"All yeah, laugh it up." Cole pouted and crossed his arms only causing more laughter.

Jay stopped his laughs and gave Cole a smile, "Don't worry you'll get better. You can ask me if you ever need help." This immediately turned Cole's frown upside down.

"You mean it Jay?!?" Cole asked excitedly which cause Jay to look straight at his food to hide his blush.

"Of course buddy what are best friends for? Heh. " Jay chuckled at the end of his sentence and continued to eat his breakfast.
