kenma kozume was another one of the unfortunate souls that occasionally shared a shift with goshiki and shirabu.
thankfully he wasn't stuck with a noisy and irritating roomate like ushijima was.
his roomate was akaashi keiji, and thankfully they also usually shared the same shift.
which gave kenma a co-worker that was actually sane on the hard days.
he and akaashi actually had to go into work that day.
kenma was hoping and praying that shirabu and goshiki didn't have the same shift as them that day.
"keiji!" kenma called for his roomate, as he closed the dorm door.
"i brought coffee!"
"hmm" akaashi grumbled in response.
"c'mon keiji!!" kenma shook the younger boy slightly.
"we have work ya know!"
"i know!" keiji replied, rubbing his eyes before turning his body to get up.
"coffee?"
he asked, more liked demanded.
kenma pointed a finger toward the table.
"i know we could've picked some up at work but i figured it would motivate you to get up."
"you figured correctly." keiji chuckled into his coffee.
"do you know if the annoying duo have the same shift as us today?" kenma asked, referring to shirabu and goshiki.
akaashi hummed.
"i'm pretty sure shirabu has our shift but i don't think goshiki has ever shown up to an early morning shift."
"understandable."
kenma headed to the closet, pulling out both of the boys uniforms.
"thankfully i don't think the meme team has our shift." kenma said, placing the uniforms out.
"yeah you're right, they always take afternoon shifts," keiji replied, taking the last sip of his coffee.
"i'll get changed in the bathroom." akaashi announced before grabbing his uniform off the bed.
...
soon enough, the both of them were ready for work.
both of them trudged along the sidewalk, both half-asleep.
they were glad when they made it to the cafe and someone had already unlocked the place.
"good morning shirabu." kenma said yawning, as the bell on the cafe door rang.
keiji followed not long after with a small, 'good morning.'
shirabu only grumbled one back in response.
these two were one of the only co-workers he didn't completely despise besides ushijima.
all three of them moved along behind the counter, getting everything ready for the day.
eventually, they were all mostly awake and ready to open the cafe.
keiji did the honors of turning the 'open' sign for the day.
kenma laid his head on his arms on top of the counter.
he turned to shirabu.
"so i heard you scared some kid from the liberal arts department the other day."
shirabu groaned.
"he wasn't a kid," he grunted, "and i didn't scare him."
"goshiki did," he said under his breath.
kenma couldn't help but laugh.
"are you sure it was all goshiki's fault?"
"of course i am!" he shouted.
"it's never shirabu's fault." keiji added jokingly, as he returned from the back room.
"seriously! i didn't do anything!" shirabu screeched.
"sure you didn't!" kenma rolled his eyes before straightening up.
a customer had just entered the cafe.
shirabu's eyes widened slightly.
it was the same guy from his class.
he leaned towards kenma's ear.
"told you i didn't scare him!" he whispered.
kenma's lips formed an 'o' before responding.
"oh that's him?"
"yup." shirabu said, popping the 'p'.
not soon after entered a taller male following after the other.
"semi-semi slow down!" he shouted.
"no way i need coffee, and i told you to stop calling me semi-semi!" he responded before wacking the red-haired male on the arm.
"owww semi!"
semi rolled his eyes before walking up to the register.
he stared up to the menu, even though he knew exactly what he was going to order.
shirabu came up to the register once again to take semi's order.
"how may i help you today?"
"can i get a tall caramel latte please?"
tendou leaned toward semi and whispered something in his ear.
the boy chuckled before pushing the taller male to the side.
shirabu furrowed his eyebrows but stayed focused on imputing the boy's order.
"will that be all?"
"yeah that's it." semi said before pulling out his wallet.
"your total is 300 yen."
he handed him the money and shirabu traded him by handing him his drink.
"have a great day!" shirabu called with fake enthusiasm as the two left the shop.
shirabu was still trying to figure out why the boy had been laughing.
he wanted to know.
'was he laughing at me?"
he sighed, why was this so important for him to find out?
