Detective Dallas

Their bodies lay like ghoulish mannequins, the esophagus and arteries sticking out like so much corrugated and rubber tubing.

It looked as if a special effects team had worked over time for some Friday the thirteenth movie set, but that smell... That smell could only come from recently slaughtered animals.

In this case the animals were human and their corpses were still warm, the blood thickening but not yet dried on their waxy skin.

Some cases took a while to decide if foul play was involved, but this was murder all the way. The sickening smell of metal and rotting flesh blanketing the air in a choking aroma.

I should have been used to this by now, but the strings these scenes pulled hit me like a wave. It didn't help that the wind whipped around wildly outside of the house.

There was no way we would be able to move the victim out of the house without losing evidence in the wind.

There were four bodies, one of them not being dead. The mother, Marie Anderson, was cradling her young when she had died.

" What a gentleman. " I muttered, Detetive Heart shuttered, " Whoever did this, was most likely responsible for the last three murders. "

" This isn't a coincidence. " Detective De La Cruz spoke, " December 14th, a man and his family were found dead. February 14, a woman and her children were found dead. And now, April 14th, a man and his family are dead. "

" They all had one thing in common: They were rich, business men. Whoever did this was most likely a hitman for another large company. "

I say, licking my dry lips and sighing under my breath, " Detective Dallas, someone outside would like to speak with you. "

A woman said to me, I made my way downstairs and looked at the house a little more. There was no sign of struggle.

Maybe the man forced the family upstairs. I walked through the front door and cursed under my breath when I saw my son.

" Father, i need to speak with you. " Cameron, my son, said. I rolled my eyes and dragged him behind a police car.

" What the hell are you doing here? Are you trying to get me fired? " I asked, my forehead creasing as I spoke.

Cameron rolled his bell blue eyes, " Some people were at the house and they kept trying to ask questions about the case, so I came here. "

" And? What were you scared of them? " I asked, my fist trembling, because of how much I wanted to punch this boy.

" Sorta. They kept knocking and one of them tried hoping the fence and - " I held my hand and before grabbing his neck and bringing him close to me.

" Stop being such a fucking pussy and man up for once. Do you think Conner would have bitched out and followed his dad here? NO! He wouldn't grabbed the fucking pistol and showed those reporters whos boss. Now get your narrowed ass home and stay in your room until i say so. "

Cameron opened his mouth to speak, but i shushed him and ducked under the yellow police line, " Father - "

" If you don't leave now, I will have no choice but to tase the hell out of you. Do not test me. " I said and Cameron huffed and walked away.

" Sir. " Detective Heart spoke, his voice shaking and his skin green. My stomach did a somersault and my hands felt clammy.

" What? Did you find another body? " I asked, trying to keep my voice steady and my breakfast in my body.

" No. " Detective heart said, his gloved hand holding a phone. He lifted the phone up and showed me grotesque photos of the body.

" Jesus fucking Christ. Whoever did this is fucked up. We need to move out and keep an eye on large companies. The person who did this might be working on their next victim as we speak. "
