Emily felt her phone ringing in her pocket, she brought it out and smiled as soon as she saw the caller's ID.
"Hi Elaine, how is it going?"
"Everything is fine. You didn't mention she had changed so much. She's cool and terrific. I've been walking on my toes since she got back in. It's just been three days but there's a lot of changes around here". Elaine complained.
"Are you in the bathroom? I can hear the sound of a running tap".
" I had to get away from her observing eyes, she's very cautious around me and it's so uncomfortable. I don't even think of myself as her assistant any more" Elaine complained even more.
Emily sighed and suddenly thought of something. "You talked about changes, what's going on?"
Elaine quickly thought about all the internal reshuffling Sabrina had been putting in place since she returned. In just three days she fired a few staff members, increased security, made strict rules regarding company secrets, hired a new accountant and even planned to hold a financial board meeting today.
"I really don't know what she's up to but from everything I've just explained to you, it feels like a whole new restructuring" Elaine explained.
"Alright, just keep me informed and remind her about her surgery. She needs it, her heart is failing. I'll hang up first." Emily said and ended the call.
Elaine adjusted her hair and dress and walked out holding her phones tightly in her hands. She was a little absent-minded and accidentally bumped into Sabrina.
"You seem to be in a daze, what's going on with you?" Sabrina asked with concern.
Elaine looked down, avoiding her eyes and murmured what sounded like an apology.
"Are you love-struck? You seem to be pretty busy with your phone recently". Sabrina has noticed how she constantly typed on her phone and occasionally sneaked into the bathroom to make calls. "It's only a man that could make you pay that much attention to a common cell phone". Sabrina teased her and smiled.
Elaine managed to smile back and hurried away from the scrutinising eyes of Sabrina, she felt so nervous around her. As Elaine walked away, she remembered something and immediately turned back to find Sabrina. After a while, she found Sabrina in her office sitting on the sofa and staring intensely at her phone.
"Yes?" Sabrina said lifting her head immediately the door opened.
"I'm here to remind you about your surgery. Before your vacation, you arranged to have but because you were away, it was cancelled. Dr Turner has been waiting to hear from you to reschedule, I think you should give her a call or visit the hospital" Elaine stated.
"Well, thanks for reminding.i will surely try to reach out to her. You're such a good assistant, I really hope you remain as loyal as you are; at least for both of our sakes". Sabrina replied sweetly but even Elaine couldn't miss the warning in her reply and she shivered.
