The light entering Sabrina's room stirred her from her sleep, she opened her eyes and groaned loudly.
"I really can't stand the morning sun" she complained and reached for her phone. It was 7am and she had a text message from Nolan.
Hey, how is it going? I hope being in the same house as Emily isn't suffocating? Remember to be extra careful and act as normal as you can around her. She's your sister after all. Have fun, I'll see you when you return. Happy thanksgiving.
Sabrina read the text and smiled. Even though everything happening with her right now seems sort of bizarre, it was good to know that she had Nolan in her corner to always turn to and hopefully, she was going to try to be friends with Frets; that's if Emily didn't poison his mind first. He seemed like a nice person and had this mysterious aura around him.
Thinking about Emily, Sabrina felt a pang of pain in her heart. She couldn't figure out the game Emily was playing or the game card Emily was going to pull out next. The only thing she could do right now was to play along and try to make peace with Emily. More than anything, she had seen through Emily these past days and although she couldn't figure out the reason Emily wanted her dead, she knew that Emily cared about her so she was going to act on that care and probably uncover the truth.
With resolve in her heart, she got out of bed, brushed her teeth and found her way to Emily's room.
"Knock! Knock knock!!!" Sabrina said tapping the door lightly and without waiting for Emily to respond, she opened the door and stepped in.
Emily stopped trying to get out of bed as soon as she noticed the person on the other side trying to open the door and wondered who would be that brave to enter her room without getting consent. Her body froze the moment she saw it was Sabrina and she lowered her head awkwardly, trying to avoid looking at her.
"Hi, Em! Happy Thanksgiving". Sabrina greeted cheerfully but Emily only nodded and fumbled what sounded like a good morning. "It's funny to see that you're not out of bed yet, I thought you might be working out when I decided to come into your room". Sabrina added.
"I haven't worked out in a while now, I do not even remember the last time I hit the gym". Emily responded.
"I wonder how you manage to keep fit, your arm and leg muscles are well toned. I'm envious".
Emily looked at Sabrina in surprise and smiled. "I didn't know you had such interest in my physique, by the way, you're usually not one to bother about these things. Anyway, what you see is what climbing a ladder constantly and doing hard labour does to the body".
Sabrina sat close to Emily and rested her head on her shoulder which made Emily uncomfortable and concerned.
"Are you okay? You know you can always talk to me right?". Emily said softly.
"Well, I just want to apologize for my behaviour towards you. I know it's nasty but I can't help it".
"It's actually fine, I know how hard you must be having it with everything that is going on but I really want you to remember that these shoulders are yours to cry on. Honestly, I have tissues handy too" Emily said and they both laughed.
