The New Life
Hhhhmm. I can smell the pollution pagkalabas ko pa lang ng airport. It has been five years since the last time I was here. Gotta admit I miss the Philippines but I had a great time in New York. Kung hindi lang nakiusap si Dad na ihandle ko ang mga restaurants dito I would never go back. Too much memories, full storage na ako.
"Areeeeeeen! Omygooosssshhh!I miss you" I shrieked nang bigla na lang may dumakma sa akin. This girl really.
"Hello to you too Jane. We just saw each other a month ago. " Pumunta sya sa NY last month to visit me.
"Still I missed you! Omygosh isang buwan pa lang naman pero bakit parang mas lalo kang gumanda? Kung maganda ka years ago dyosa ka na ata ngayon! "
Now she's exaggerating. Sa katawan siguro yes. I worked out extra hard back in New York. I am a model so I have to maintain my body. I am a fashion designer graduate but I found myself having fun being a model kaya itinuloy ko na.
"Jane where is your car? I'm tired I wanna rest. Ihatid mo na ako"
She lead me to her BMW and drove away from the airport. Habang bumabyahe talak lang siya ng talak. Dami siguro nitong sabon sa bahay, bumubula bibig eh.
"Aren, ready ka na ba? "
"Huh? " Ready saan?
"Putukan na!" She chuckled.
Gaga. Ginaya pa talaga yung isang laro sa tv show.
"Joke lang. I mean you know? The V word? "
"Voldermort? "
"Hindi.Vagina"
I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Oh her vulgar words. She didn't change at all.
"Seriously you know what I mean. It's the Philippines, the chance of you meeting him is very big. "
Oh. Val.
"I've moved on. It's been five years. I'm no longer the girl who's madly inlove with him"
"I really hope so. That was a deep love Aren. You were so into him I thought you wouldn't be able to move on"
Nanahimik na lang ako. I thought so too. But I'm sure I've moved on now. I did right?
Dahil sa mga pinagsasasabi ni Jane, naging laman na naman ng aking isipan ang mga kabulastugan ko dati.

Tinakbo ko na ang classroom papuntang teacher's office. Late na naman ako sa project ko! I am a graduating student so hindi pwedeng may mamiss ako ni isa. My parents are very supportive they don't really care about my grades but I do. They've given me my wants and needs, they spoiled me. This is the least I could do.
Pagdating ko sa office kumatok agad ako at pumasok. There's no one here. Lumapit ako sa table ng secretary para magtanong.
"Good morning miss. Do you know where Mrs. Villamos is? "
She removed her eyes on the computer and looked at me.
"They're having a meeting at the President's office. Andito yung CEO ng engineering firm para pag usapan at icheck ang area natin for the new building Ms. Fontanares"
Oh she knew me. Well sanay na ako. My family owns the famous restaurant adjacent the building of our campus.
"Okay thank you"
Umalis na ako dun at planong maghintay sa harap ng opisina ng President. Kailangan ko tong ipasa kay ma'am sa personal dahil kung hindi, itatapon niya lang ito pag nakita niya sa table niya dahil late na ako. Kaya kailangan kong makiusap.
Tsk I can't believe it. Me? Makikiusap? Bakit ba kasi ang taray ng matandang yun. Some of the teachers here are afraid of my father kaya kahit late ako minsan sa subjects nila I am still fine. Pero si Mrs. Villamos hindi nadadala sa katarayan ko and powers ni Daddy. She's so grumpy.Kaya siguro sya tumandang dalaga.
The door of the office opened and I saw her go out. Lumapit agad ako kahit pa may kausap siyang matangkad and nakasuit na lalaki. I don't care I need this.
"Ma'am I'm sorry it's late but here's my project please ma'am pinaghirapan ko po yan"
She sighed. "Naghirap din ang mga classmates mo Ms.Fontanares but they were on time"
So what? I'm not them.
"But ma'am---" I halted because the tall man beside her coughed. Irritated. I rolled my eyes and glanced at him.
Natigilan ako. Oh God! He is so handsome. His dark and dark brown eyes are drowning me. Perfect nose and lips. I can also tell that he's well built. Halata sa tikas niya. He raised his brow at me.
"I'm sorry Klaine. Let's continue this to my office ijo."
Wait what?! My project? At dahil tulala parin ako sa kagwapuhan niya. Hindi ko na namalayan na iniwan na pala nila ako doon.
"HOY! Fontanares! " Jane shouted at my ears and made me go back to my senses.
What the hell? Galit akong lumingon sa kanya.
" I said we're here. Bumaba ka na. Kanina ka pa tulala diyan."
Lumingon ako sa bintana ng sasakyan and eyed the tall building of C.O.Y.H condominium. I will be staying here habang nandito ako sa Pilipinas. Lumingon ulit ako kay Jane and kissed her cheeks goodbye bago nagpasalamat at bumaba. Then she drove off. She's a doctor so her time is limited. She just took a break to fetch me in the airport . My parents couldn't make it because I didn't tell them, it's a surprise.
I eyed the building before I walked to the entrance. The interior is nice. This is a famous condominium kaya ito ang napili ko. And I find the name interesting. C.O.Y.H, COMFORT OF YOUR HOME. I really hope so. I don't wanna stay in our house for I'm sure my mom will just nag me to get a husband.
Pumasok na ako sa room ko and was very satisfied with what I saw. I decided and designed every corner of this room through online pero hindi ko inasahang mapeperpekto nga iyon ng mga hinire kong gumawa nito. Sulit ang binayad ko. I didn't bother to unpack because of my bad jetlag kaya humiga na lang ako and quickly doze off.
