Ethan listened intently as I described every aspect of the first lesson. He was a natural in the water. Although, like most people it took him a while to get used to breathing through a snorkel underwater. The human brain knows its not possible so it rejects the idea. Eventually though he got it figured out. We took a break for lunch at a nearby fast food restaurant. Surprisingly, he didn't eat like I would have figured a man of his size would. I actually think I ate more than him, which is more than slightly embarrassing. We talked about Ireland and Canada; what he liked about each one and what he didn't. Naturally, maple syrup was top of the list.
"Why don't we have maple syrup in Ireland? Do you Canadians have exclusive rights or something?" he chuckled.
"I don't know if we do but it certainly seems like it doesn't it" I grinned looking into his deep eyes. We split the check and headed back to the beach. Even though we were only doing light swimming. I still waited half an hour before heading out into the water. Didn't need to give my really hot client a muscle cramp. Especially since the trickiest part was coming up: removing your snorkel and then putting it back in your mouth underwater. A lot of people end up choking on water or swallowing it. I'm trained in CPR, but that doesn't mean I enjoy performing it. Back in the water, we sink below the surface. I pull my snorkel out of my mouth and smile at Ethan before putting it back in and expelling the water through my snorkel. I motion for Ethan to do the same. He pulls it out fine. But after he puts it back in he accidentally inhales and starts choking. I panic. Oh god no. He starts to pass out as I grab him and drag him to shore.
"Ethan! Ethan! Oh, no..."
His wasn't breathing. My training kicks in immediately as I tilt back his head and pinch his nose. Part of my brain reminds me that I'm about to put my lips on his. I breathe air into his lungs. Again. Again. Come on, he didn't swallow that much water did he? One more time and then he launches himself upright and coughs up a whole bunch of water.
"Oh thank God! Are you ok? Just relax, breathe." He sputtered some more then turned to look at me.
"Andy, thank you..." All of a sudden his face was right in front of mine.
"Alexandra..."
And his lips gently brushed mine in a true kiss.
_______________Was this actually happening? Was this extremely handsome, Adonis of a man actually kissing me? After he nearly died? Wait, what the hell am I thinking! Kiss him back, Andy! So I did. I gently pulled away and recaptured his lips, slightly tugging on the bottom on. That set him off. He wrapped an arm around my lower back and snaked a hand through my wet hair. Holding us together he tilted his head and kissed me deeper. I could feel his tongue tracing the shell of my lips. What the heck! I opened my mouth and allowed him entrance. His groan reverberated all through me. This boy could kiss. Reluctantly he pulled away and rested his forehead against mine.
"I'm sorry, Andy. I just couldn't hold myself back any longer. You're amazing."
