"What do you mean seven years ago? As in you haven't had a boyfriend in seven years?!" Ethan stared at me incredulously. I just turned away. I hadn't meant for anybody to ever find out about that. And this is the reason.
"Andy look at me. You're beautiful. I can't believe that no one has ever wanted to be with you. I'm sure they were just scared, just like me. You have a very powerful presence...it's infatuating." Ethan looked away, embarassed.
"What do you mean 'hasn't wanted to be with me'? Of course there have been guys who wanted to be with me!" I exclaimed. How dare he assume that. Okay, maybe I was exageratting. "Well they weren't exactly really interested in me. Just getting into my pants, but that still counts!" I shot him an angry look.
"Sorry! I just..I...I should go." Ethan made to get up and leave but I grabbed his arm and he turned to look at me.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell or accuse you of anything. I'm not really sure about anything anymore...Wanna know the truth?" I paused as he sat back down and took the hand from his arm and held it in his. "I was terrified when you kissed me because I thought you might actually like me and then these feelings that I can't explain would surface, and you'd get scared and go back to Ireland early. I was scared that I might finally have a normal relationship and then have it taken away from me." I let silent tears role dow my cheeks and bowed my head. "And now you're definitely going to leave after that confession."
But Ethan didn't budge, he reached over and grabbed my other hand and held them both in one of his large hands. He reached out and tilted my head up so I had to look right into his deep, beautiful green eyes. He brought me in closer and hugged me. A perfect hug. The kind your get from your mom when you're sick or from a best friend when you're upset. As he pressed his lips to my forehead in the sweetest kiss of my life, he whispered, "You and me, Andy. We are going to be special and perfect."
