"Well its seems the fall caused a broken wrist in two places. The extra stress of the pain caused the cramping, but the child is fine. I still suggest that you guys take it easy on the stress for the rest of the pregnancy. I know its early, but anything that is going to cause excess stress, avoid it." I nodded and the doctor walked out of the room and closed the door lightly behind him.
"What are we going to do? You called me sweetheart in front of a lot of people, and Emma noticed the rings. I should've taken it off before leaving this morning." Devon gave me an odd look.
"You wear your ring around?" I felt self conscious now. I nodded, but he didn't say anything else of the matter.
"Well this situation will be solved quickly. I'll say I was trying to calm you down to ensure the safety of the child, and as for the rings I'll say it's purely coincidence."
"What if they don't believe you?"
"They have no other choice, but to believe me."
"But what of they don't believe you? What if they fire you because of these rumors? How will you find a job? Once the media gets a hold of this, your career is over. And what about finances? This is not a time for us to be struggling." Devon chuckled, and I felt like punching him in the face.
"This is not funny! Our baby will not be struggling!"
"Jayda, did you ever really notice how nice my car was? The house, everything? My family is rich. My dad owns a very successful music recording company, and we are all millionaires. I worked to provide for myself and not depend on the money from the company, but if it gets to that point, we never have to worry again."
I was speechless. How hadn't I realized that he had money? Of course he can't get such a nice house on a teacher salary. I felt so stupid.
Before I could respond, my parents bust through the door. My mom looked shocked, and my dad looked absolutely livid.
"Pregnant? Really Jayda? We raised you better than this!" My face paled, and I looked over to Devon.
"Is this the father? Is this perv the man who impregnated you?" My father was attracting a lot of unwanted attention, and I felt my face getting red.
"Dad, there is more to it. Please, stop this."
"Stop this? You are just another statistic now! How could you disgrace us like this?" I stared at my dad with a shocked expression. He had never been one to yell at me.
"Aren't you supposed to be out of town?" It was a stupid question, but it kind of just slipped out.
"I decided to surprise my family by flying in sooner. Instead I'm hit with a call that my daughter has a broken wrist, and needs to take it easy for the baby." I flinched back at his tone, but I didn't answer.
"My discharge papers were just signed, I'm leaving now." My father grabbed my good wrist.
"Let's go." I pulled away from him.
"I'm not riding anywhere with you. I'll meet you at home. My teacher can drop me off." Devon nodded, but he looked a little unsure about everything. He was probably afraid of how my father would react when he learned that Devon was the father.

"Guys, I'm on complete lock down at home. Then to top it off Emma really went and told the principle. I will have to see the school board on Monday." I sighed.
"How was it after we left?"
"The school was crazy. Half the school thinks its cute that our sexy teacher carried you valiantly out of the school, the other half think you're a slut who faked being injured for attention. Its a mess." I pinched the bridge of my nose and closed my eyes. I could deal with the rumors, but I sure didn't want to.
