5: Voting Day

As I seated at the waiting area-where I will be voting-a lot of text messages from my mother flooded my phone.

Hey sweetie don't get too stressed out.

Did you eat breakfast?

Always remember I'm already so proud of you.

My baby's going to lead the country soon. I just know it.

You're going to be great. You're already great, though.

I'm going to see you soon. I love you.

I grinned as I read my mom's messages. To be honest, I'm really nervous, but her texts made me feel much better.

While I was still smiling widely, a voice interrupted me. "Mr. Kim, it's already your turn to vote." A woman on the election committee voiced out.

I got inside a room with chairs one-seat apart from each other and sat on a chair on the very front. Seems like I'm the first one for this batch.

The room filled up minutes later with each person seating on a chair.

The woman from a while ago signaled for us to start. I shaded for the circles beside the names of the people I vote.

After a few minutes I finished as well as the others. I let a machine check my ballot and headed for the door.

As I headed out I saw a familiar face.

"Ms. Yoon?" I walked to her. "Oh, hey Mr. Kim. You were assigned at this precinct too?"

"Yes, and I just finished."I said. "Cool, me too. You know I'm really hungry, and I could use a bite right now. Do you want to have lunch with me." She invited.

"Yeah, sure. Actually, I am really hungry." My stomach rumbled loudly. "Oh" She laughed. That's cute. I turned tomato red afterwards.

I drove her to the diner just nearby because she just rode a taxi earlier.

When we arrived, I opened the car door for her and closed it behind. She walked in the diner first and found a booth on the far end.

We sat down and a menu was handed to us after the waiter took our order. As we chatted while waiting for it to arrive.
