Gone (a Zalfie fanfic)

Chapter 4

Alfie's POV

As we got to her house, I kissed Zoes hand and waved her off. She smiled and walked into the cosy-looking house. I stood around for a bit, thinking about her, but after my daydream I walked home.

On the short walk home I remembered my 14th birthday was coming up. I had forgotten and it was just days away. I had to have a proper party. Should I invite Zoe? Would she come?

As I reached the door to my house, I saw mum sitting on the step outside. "Mum! Why are you outside? Its freezing!" She stood up. "You locked me out, Alfie. You should have thought about me." She said, slurring her words. "Mum, you've been drinking again! Every night you come home drunk. And you should've thought about me! How do you think I felt when you left in the morning and only gave me a note that said 'Im out'?" She rolled her eyes. "Look, let's just go inside." She took the keys from my hand, fumbling with them, trying to get them in the key hole. I heard her sigh and she chucked the keys to me. I unlocked the door and we went inside.

She held onto the side board, trying not to fall over. "Mum do you need help?" I asked politely. "No, Im fine. Now go to bed!" I screwed up my face. "Whatttt??? Its only 5." "GOOO!!!!!" She shouted, obviously very drunk. "Im serious, you need to stop drinking." I said under my breath. If I said it out loud she would've shouted again, but she still wouldn't have listened.

I went to my bedroom and pretended to go to sleep. Even if she wanted me in bed, she wouldn't know if I was or not, because she was drunk and couldn't get up the stairs by herself. I stayed in bed, but went on my phone instead of sleeping.

Mum really needed to control her alcohol intake. She was getting far too drunk. What if she died of drinking to much alcohol? I didn't want that to happen. No. But she wasn't going to listen to me.

Sorry this is a short chapter (like all the others). I can't seem to write long chapters. They always come out short so, sorry!

In the next one, I will do a time skip and finally the story will move on.
