On January 7th it was rumoured that Jennie Kim and Kisoo Kwan are debuting in a subunit called Kennie and a month later, on February 7th it was officially announced, YG was going to debut Jennie and Kisoo in a subunit of BlackPink, Kennie.
What shocked fans the most were the teasers Kennie has been sending them the whole past month before the rumours were officially announced.
Miss Jennie Kim decided to tease their fans by posting a picture of a LGBTQ flag, some thought it was just Jennie being the amazing Queen and supporting every sexuality but some fans kept researching and a few days later Kisoo tweeted: "Love is love🏳️🌈"
Not only that the girls have been giving out similar signs/teasers, they even went to a Pride parade together.
When the album was finally released on February 14th 2020 fans went absolutely crazy. The girls released the MV 'Oh My God' and photo teasers on the same day, making their fans question why they did so.
Since debut Kennie was the most popular ship out of all the Kpop ships and this album just proves that Kennie might be real after all, I mean, a title song that sings about sexual attraction between girls, an album full of LGBTQ songs, photos with rainbows all over them and we will not even talk about their album cover.
Korea has always been known for being very strict when it comes to two same genders dating/getting married, it was never acceptable in the eyes of the citizens of Korea. Especially, it was never acceptable if one of the famous Kpop idols turned out to be gay, lesbian or trans.
Did YG just make a huge mistake with subunit Kennie? Is Kennie real? Are Jennie Kim and Kisoo Kwan dating?!
