Sirius woke to a pillow being thrown at him.
He almost fell off his bed and looked up to see Remus at the end of his bed looking down at him, annoyed. "Do you always sleep in?" He asked, sitting on the bed.
"What? It's only... ten a.m.? Jesus, Remus! It's too early!" Sirius exclaimed, looking at the clock on his bedside table.
"Hmph... what are you going to do when school starts? You're never going to wake up in time!"
"Don't worry! I'll wake up on time... when school starts."
Remus rolled his eyes, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Just get out of bed. We need to go down for breakfast before it ends."
"Fine..." Sirius mumbled, lifting himself out of bed.He yawned and reached into his trunk, getting out some of his clothes.
He went into the bathroom to change, dramatically screaming when he finished. James and Remus came in to see what was wrong, and what they found was...
Sirius staring in the mirror, exclaiming about how hot he was.
James just started laughing and Remus sighed and walked out, smiling slightly to himself. James and Sirius left the bathroom, laughing at each other.
They found out they both had a common belief: that they were extremely handsome. Of course, most people would agree, both had stunning looks (though Sirius was unarguably better-looking). The pair made it out of their dormitory and walked into the common room. James looked around before spotting a girl in the corner. She had long red hair and bright, emerald-green eyes. James was instantly head-over-heels for her. He gave Sirius a thumbs up before going over to her, probably tying to flirt with her.
Sirius rolled his eyes and looked around himself. He couldn't believe how many people were here, he'd never seen this many people in one place.
Of course, the Black family reunions could easily rival it, as most of the Malfoys and Lestranges were also there.
Sirius suddenly felt something. He couldn't exactly pinpoint it, he hadn't felt it in a very long time.
He looked around again and then he realised what it was.
He felt safe. He felt at home. He never felt this at the Black house. He was almost shaking with excitement. The Black house consisted of a lot of shouting, anger and hurt. Hogwarts consisted of laughter, tears, happiness and sadness.
A perfect mix.
He loved it. It felt like his real home, like he finally belonged somewhere.Sirius went towards the fire, sitting down on a squashy armchair. It was comfortable.
Like the comforting hug of a mother.
Sirius smiles to himself and watches the fire. It was calming. For a minute, all the worries about his parents hating him seemed to drift away. His shoulders relaxed and he sunk into the chair, feeling like he could easily enjoy this situation with a blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. He stretched and watched as Remus sank into the chair next to him with a book. They smiled at each other before going back to doing their things. Sirius quickly became bored and got up to find James. He found him getting practically beat-up by the redhead. He laughed and dragged James away, listening to him rambling about how beautiful she is. He could hardly hear anything except that her name was 'Lily Evans'. Sirius grinned. "Jamesy's got a crush."
"I- What- no! I do not like Lily!" James retorted.
"You so do. Didn't you just hear yourself?"
"Well.. I mean.. maybe. Okay, fine! I like her!"
"Aw, now doesn't that feel better?"
"Shut up..."
The pair beamed at each other and got into the dormitory. They sat on the floor and started playing Chess with the set James had brought. It turns out neither of them were very good and both had a habit of being a sore loser. They learned a lot about each other that night, including they both loved pranks. They immediately started thinking of ways they could prank people, from people in Gryffindor to people in Slytherin. They had a blast and were talking about how exited they were to come to school and about their family. Sirius only really spoke about Regulus, he really didn't like the rest of the family. The boys stayed up most of the night in the common room, attempting to roast marshmallows they'd got from a seventh year. James just ranted about that Lily girl all night.
