Emperor Klevis Delacruz could not believe his ears when an old Novine came to visit him at his palace for what he had deemed a 'very important matter'. He granted the grey-haired wizard permission to speak.
The Wizard had a silver beard, with lavender robes and a pointy hat. He had electric blue eyes that seemed to speak eons of knowledge, wisdom, and power. The magician, who went by the name of Ogilin, stepped forward amongst the guards and onto the royal red carpet.
He took a long look around his Emperor's throne room. Standing side by side were Kredillos armed with whips, an ominous sign that he should not linger long.
Let's just get this over with, he thought.
"Your Majesty, you have been ruling Gravendell for over forty years. In these years you have done a great job. I pray that you rule for a hundred more years. Last night, I had a dream I cannot forget..."
"What is it?" Klevis fidgeted. "Hurry up old man or my guards will remove your head for taking up my time."
The old Novine's eyes gleamed with pure hatred, reflecting the forty years of torture he, his family, and the whole world of Gravendell had suffered.
Emperor Klevis hesitated, sensing that the old man was immensely powerful and it would be unwise to mess with him.
"C-continue Mr Ogilin," sputtered the Emperor.
"Thank you. As I was saying, I had a dream which seemed so disturbing that I got shivers down my spine when I recalled it. It was about you."
"About me?" a scream came from the ruler. He knew Novines could bring forward prophecies about people and they scarcely brought good news.
"Shall I recite it?" The old man suppressed a smile, and made a concrete face once again.
"Well, I suppose I must hear it. Go on, Mr Ogilin." The King then listened with sheer curiosity as the wizard spoke of his eternal doom. It went something like this:
O, ruler of forty years beware,
A boy will strip you of your Kingdom bare
He will be of strength and fire
And he will dare to conspire
With him will be a girl and a boy
Alongside them he will rejoice
So, O King you will perish by this boy's hand
Who will kill you in The Last Stand
All this time the sorcerer was reciting, the Emperor got paler and paler and started sweating profusely, his granite gray eyes widening and his mouth open with shock of the utmost kind.
"Your Majesty?" One of the guards asked.
"I'm-I'm fine." managed the Emperor. He made a brave face once again."I would like to see my Royal Adviser now."
The Royal Advisor was a cunning man. "Yes, your majesty?" he crooned in his soft velvet voice.
"Diablo, this Novine- I mean, Mr Ogilin, has just seen a prophecy about a boy overthrowing me. I plan to kill every Dedrall and Anine in Gravendell."
'Overthrow the Emperor?' Diablo thought excitedly. 'If this boy can overthrow the Emperor, I can claim Gravendell for my very own!'
"Your Majesty, prophecies can be stopped if you use the correct method."
"What might be the correct method, Diablo?" the Emperor was growing more impatient and frustrated by the minute.
"Recite it to me." Diablo turned to the wizard, who had been watching the whole exchange.
And so the prophecy was recited to him. Diablo's sly eyes twinkled, and he cleared his throat to speak.
"Your Majesty, after listening to the prophecy, I have come to the conclusion that we must ban all marriages between the Anines and the Dedralls."
"Why do you suggest that?"
"It says in the third line, my lord: He will be of strength and fire'."
"Hmm... I think we won't do that. My opinion is that we should kill every child of Dedralls and Anines. Start a crackdown against every Dedrall and Anine."
"Very well, my lord." The sound of the Lanaris scurrying away could be heard.
Klevis turned towards Ogilin. "You have been of great help, Ogilin. Thank you".
The wizard smiled, his wrinkled face like the ripples of sand in the desert. "It's been an honour talking to you, Emperor Klevis."
"Also to you, wise wizard." He turned to his guards. "Kill him." Just as the guards raised their whips to grab him,Ogilin disappeared in a flash.
