Lea made her way to a building titled Main Office. She opened the door and saw a woman sitting at the front desk. She was relieved. This place was starting to give her the creeps, everyone she had seen who worked there were men. Thank God there was finally a woman.
"Umm... Hunter... I mean the guy working in the front building told me to come here," she told the woman.
The woman peered up at her from behind her black cat eye glasses. "You're new here?" She said it like she already knew the answer.
"Yeah."
The woman, Gretchen (as her name tag on her desk said), pointed to a die about seven feet away from where she was standing. Lea looked at the door, navy blue just like everything else, then back at the woman. She slowly walked toward the door and turned the cold silver handle. When she stepped inside, there was a man who looked to be in his late thirties, with his hands crossed on his desk, starting up at her.
"Have a seat," the man gestured to a large chair on the other side of his desk.
Lea sat down nervously with her bags next to the chair. "Hunter, from the front building, sent me here."
"Yes, all newbies are supposed to come here when they arrive. You must get your dorm key," he smiled grimly.
Lea smiled slightly, "Okay, might need that."
The man laughed lowly and reached into a drawer underneath his desk. He pulled out a few different keys. He pointed to the first one,"This dorm is on the opposite side of the base,"he pointed to the next, "This is directly next to the building where the permanent employees live-"
Lea interrupted him,"I'll take that one." She wanted to get out there as soon as possible.
The man looked at her questioningly, but handed her the key anyway.
"Thanks," Lea grabbed the key, picked up her bags, and headed for the door. She didn't even bother to ask his name.
