I woke up later with an awful headache. I also felt fatter than I had before.
"What happened?" I asked, trying to sit up. It failed, and I slumped back against my pillows. I looked around the hospital wing and saw every single girl that was in my class. Most were passed out, but a few were awake. Most of them also had their fiances by their bed. I looked to the side and saw Draco sitting in a chair, leaning his head on my mattress. He was asleep. I looked up at a clock on the wall and saw that it was in the middle of the night. I relaxed back on my pillows, slumping tiredly. I subconsciously ran my hand through Draco's hair, getting all of the tangles out of it. After a while of running my hand through, my fingers got stuck in a knot of his hair.
"Ouch! What was that?" Draco asked, sitting up and looking around the hospital wing.
"Shh, it's the middle of the night, everyone's sleeping," I said. His head turned toward me quickly.
"You're awake!" he exclaimed.
"Thanks, captain obvious," I said sarcastically. He just scowled at me. "What happened in class?" I asked.
"All of the girls collapsed as soon as they took the potion," Draco said.
"Why?"
"Professor Clarin didn't say."
"Darn. Also, do I look fat to you?" Draco looked surprised.
"No, not at all. Why?"
"I just feel like it," I said.
"Dani, you're pregnant. Of course you're going to feel fat," Draco said.
"Thanks?"
"Sorry, that didn't come out right. But you're carrying our child in you," Draco said. "Darn, that didn't come out right either." I laughed at him.
"It's fine Draco, it's the middle of the night, your brain isn't working right." He glared at me. I shrugged innocently. "You should go back to sleep," I suggested.
"You should too," He said. I nodded and snuggled deeper into the covers, while Draco stopped his head on my mattress again. Soon I heard his soft snores, and I couldn't help but stare at him. He looked so peaceful, like there was nothing that he couldn't handle.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer," Draco mumbled sleepily. I blushed at being caught. He chuckled softly. "Go to sleep, love," he said, before closing his eyes and actually falling asleep. My eyes widened in surprise but he didn't seem to realize what he had said. I soon relaxed and my hand went into his hair and I continued running my fingers through it, and soon I fell asleep.
I woke up when the sun was streaming through the curtains the next morning. I groaned and lifted my head, looking around the hospital wing. Most of the beds were still occupied with sleeping pregnant women, but a few were empty and I wondered where they were. I looked to my side and saw that Draco was gone. I decided to get up and look for him, but I was stopped by Madam Pomfrey before I could move any further.
"Don't move, Miss North-Potter, you're on bed rest," She said, pushing me gently back onto the bed.
"Why am I on bed rest?" I asked.
"It's just for today and tomorrow, we need to keep you here to make sure you and the babies are okay," Madam Pomfrey explained. I frowned. "Your fiance has the time off too, so you won't be alone," Madam Pomfrey said, and she smiled at me. I huffed, Draco wasn't amazing company. Soon Draco walked back in with a plate of food for me and I sat up, suddenly realizing how hungry I was. I scarfed down the food, pushing away the bacon that was on the plate.
"Why don't you want the bacon?" Draco asked. I shrugged.
"It's making me feel nauseous," I said.
"Okay," Draco said, then he grabbed the bacon and stuffed it in his mouth. I giggled at his antics and all of a sudden felt the strong need to go to the bathroom. I quickly sat up, waited for the head rush to pass, and then hurried to the bathroom that was in the far end of the hospital wing.
"Dani! Where are you going so fast?" Draco asked, running and catching up to me.
"Bathroom," I said, hurrying through the door. "Nope, you're not coming with me," I said to Draco.
"Fine. But I'm here if you need help with anything," Draco said. I heard a thump against the door and assumed he had sat down. After two minutes, Draco asked, "What's taking you so long?"
"I'm tidying myself up, I'm a mess!" I said. I really was. My hair stuck out everywhere, and there was mascara under my eyes reminding me of what a raccoon looked like. I wetted a paper towel and wiped under my eyes, making sure that I didn't look like a raccoon anymore when I was finished. Then I straightened my clothes and tried finger combing my hair. It didn't help much, but at least I looked a little bit better. I chuckled when I thought of what Ginny's reaction would be when she looked in the mirror.
Not five minutes later, I heard a scream and a feminine voice yelling, "out of my way!" I laughed again because I knew it was Ginny. She wrenched the door to the bathroom open and I shrieked.
"Ginevra Weasley! What do you think you're doing?! I could've been indecent!" I said.
"Oh please. I'm your best friend. It's not like I haven't seen it before," Ginny said, rushing to the mirror and trying to fix her makeup. I blushed and snuck out the door. Draco was standing outside of it, and he raised a questioning eyebrow at me. I just shook my head, and he laughed. I huffed and pulled him back to my bed.
"Draco?" I asked, looking at him sitting in the chair by my bed.
"Hmm?" he raised his head and looked at me.
"Would you get me my books, please?" I asked him sweetly. "I would get them myself, but, you know, I'm not allowed out of my bed." He groaned but stood up.
"Yes, dear," he said before walking out of the hospital wing. I laughed out loud at this and I attracted the attention of Hermione, whose bed was next to mine.
"You good there, Dani?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Draco just made me laugh," I said.
"Draco? Draco Malfoy?"
"Yeah, why is that surprising?"
"It's just unusual," she said.
"Or maybe you just haven't known him good enough," I snapped at her. She looked offended. "Sorry, these pregnancy hormones have got me crazy," I apologized. "Merlin, that sounds weird."
"I know, right? Well, I've got some homework to catch up on, I'll talk to you later," Hermione said, pulling out an extremely thick book that I'm pretty sure was Hogwarts, a History. I chuckled. Hermione hasn't changed a bit.
