I was dozing off underneath the tree, waiting for the rest of the crew to get here. I haven't slept properly in at least a month and haven't eaten in two weeks. Human food doesn't satisfy the real hunger inside of me. I fed off of blood, like a vampire I guess but those were fictional beings while I was the real deal. I didn't have to sleep every day like humans, but I did have to recharge. This was when I was the weakest. At the most I didn't have to sleep for a year, but the longer I waited to sleep then the weaker I became, which also meant the longer I had to sleep to regain my energy.
I awoke to the sound of hooves coming closer, and I straightened up to get my stuff together. Walking to my horse, I stroked her face as she nuzzled on my jacket, looking for treats. I pulled out a sugar cube and gave it to her.
"Goodnight Robicheaux!" Sam yelled with a huge smile on his face.
"Sam Chisolm!" The man greeted. They hugged each other and exchanged pleasantries. I scanned the man and he seemed older. A war veteran I could tell. Something about him seemed familiar. His silvering hair was a bit longer than everyone's else and he had a gold tooth.
"This is my partner Billy Rocks. Wherever I go he goes."
Goodnight nodded to the Asian man and my eyes almost bulged out of my head. What an absolute beautiful human being. His hair was tucked in by a hair pen, with long black silky hair. His eyes were the deepest of brown and he had some stubble on his face. I caught myself with my mouth open and I audibly closed it with a click. I felt my cheeks heat up which was weird since I haven't felt this embarrassed in a while. I was filled with relief since I still had my bandanna around my face.
"This is Vasquez, Ms.Emma Cullens, and Alex. We are all employed by Ms.Cullens and her associate Teddy Q." Goodnight walked up to her and exchanged a few flirty words while kissing her hand.
"Your hands are cold Ms.Emma, are you nervous?"
Emma kept quiet and Goodnight had a sympathetic expression on his face.
"Don't be Ms.Emma. We're gonna help you out."
Faraday was acting like a complete fool and was drunk as hell. He was making fun of Vasquez at the moment, dancing around him.
"Ohhh Muchacho."
Sam put a hand on Vasquez's shoulder and pulled him away while Faraday gave him a smirk and laughed. Goodnight's eyes landed on me and headed towards me.
"Do I know you from somewhere? You seem very familiar." His eyes roamed my body, trying to place how he recognized me. It finally clicked in place for him.
"You're Alex Villin!" He shouted. That seemed to get everyone's attention as they stared in our direction. I saw that Sam started to get nervous. I stayed relax, listening to Goodnight's rambling.
"You are an absolute legend! The silent killer, the fallen angel, Lucifer." He stared at me, trying to get a reaction.
"You were the most ruthless soldier. Wherever they send you, you came back perfect, without a scratch while everyone else was slaughtered. That's why they call you Lucifer or the Devil."
He scratched the back of his head, looking a little nervous.
"I'm Goodnight Robicheaux. You might know me as The Angel of Death. We met once while my platoon stumbled upon you in the small town that was overrun and you were sent to take it back over."
It suddenly clicked in mind at who he was. He used to be younger but I still remembered his smile. I gave him my rations when I saw he was running low, patching him up when he got shot, making sure he had something to keep him warm. We split up when his mission was stationed across the state and I had to move on. That was when I was a man. A woman couldn't join the army, therefore I had to give the illusion that I was a man and had to change my voice. I never found him after the war but then again I wasn't looking hard. I heard whispers in the West but I became busy on bounties and small jobs.
I shook Goody's hand and nodded at him.
"I remember you Goody." I said in a raspy voice, deepening it to not raise any suspicion. He gave me a wide tooth smile walked back to Sam. Faraday was still staring at me, as was Billy.
"A killer huh?" Faraday slurred. "I haven't heard of you."
"That's because he is a scary story to tell to soldiers who don't behave." Goody piped in.
I just gave my horse one last pat and swung my leg over her. Everyone took the cue and mounted their horses while I rode in front next to Sam.
"What is he, a mute?" Faraday stated to Vasquez.
"I don't know amigo but shut up because I don't want a knife in the neck."
