"I still can't believe you got vanilla."

"Hey, it's vanilla bean, it's better than just vanilla..."

    "Whatever, same thing."

I sat in the passenger's side of the car, Laurence at the wheel. We drove down the winding roads, and I gazed outside and took in the rolling green hills outside. I sighed, fogging up the glass window I was leaning against.

"Where are we going?" I finally asked. Laurence only smiled, dropping his now empty ice cream cup in the cup-holder in the center console.

"I told you, it's a surprise," he said. I groaned and slouched slightly in my seat.

"Why can't you tell me?" I asked before shoving a spoonful of ice cream into my mouth.

"Because it's a surprise," he said with a light chuckle. I only huffed and stared outside. "Is that vanilla bean good?" he asked. I smirked.

"I thought you thought my ice cream choice was basic," I said smugly, my eyes trailing to his face which was now pink. He bit his lower lip, leaning forward in his seat.

"Well, maybe I'm curious to know what it tastes like," he muttered. I giggled and scooped up a spoonful of the cold substance that was in my nearly empty bowl. I lifted the spoon to his mouth.

"Open," I demanded. He did as asked and I shoved the spoon into his mouth before pulling it out slowly. He swallowed, and furrowed his eyebrows as if in thought.

"Well?" I asked. He hummed in thought, and then smiled.

"I suppose I've misjudged your ice cream choice," he said. I chuckled and ate the final bite of my ice cream and then placed it in his empty bowl. I returned my gaze to the window for a few more seconds. All I saw was greenery for miles, trees and grass and nothing else.  Blue sky stood out against the different shades of green, not a single cloud in the sky. It was a perfect day... The blue of the sky reminded me of something that seemed to haunt me everywhere I went. I could never shove the gorgeous color out of my mind no matter how hard I tried. I looked back to Laurence beside me. His eyes remained on the road ahead. His gorgeous, sky blue eyes that followed me everywhere... I examined every small detail about him. The few freckles he had, the way each strand of brown hair fell flawlessly onto his face, the way his nose seemed to curve perfectly... Everything about him just seemed so wonderful. My cheeks flushed a light shade of pink and a soft smile took over my lips. I glanced down at his hand that rested on the storage container in the center console. Hesitantly, I slid my fingers to lock into place with his and I quickly looked back outside. I felt him clench his fingers around my hand, giving it a light squeeze. I sighed in content and shut my eyes. It wasn't much long later that the car jolted to a stop.

"We're here," Laurence said. I opened my eyes and sat up to look outside. I let go of his hand to unbuckle, my excitement growing when I saw where we were.

A large open field that was framed by tall trees took up the space to the right of where we had parked. I opened the door and jumped outside, Laurence following me. I walked to the edge of the road, the hill dropping steep in front of me. I gazed out onto the field, a light breeze rushing through my hair.

    "Its beautiful," I muttered.

"I'm glad you think so," Laurence said from beside me. I felt him grab my arm. "Come on, let's go find a spot to play down."

Carefully, we walked down the steep hill and entered the field. Laurence let go of my arm and took off sprinting towards the center of it. I chuckled and chased after him. The wind hit my face as I ran, and I felt... free. I felt like there were no cares in the world, and that only Laurence and I existed on Earth.
