Ice Cream

"Hey, Gar!" A smooth voice called out to the blonde who had just closed his locker door. He turned around and smiled at the sight of his best friend, and boyfriend, Laurence walking towards him. No matter how much time he spent with the brunette, it was impossible for Garroth to keep down the butterflies that fluttered around in his stomach everytime he saw Laurence. He had fallen hard for him the day he laid eyes on him.

He remembered it like it was yesterday, even if it was years ago. They were in eighth grade, and Garroth had recently transferred schools because he had moved from London to Phoenix Drop. He was waiting at his bus stop when a certain chocolate haired boy sat next to him on the bench. Laurence introduced himself, and Garroth swore he had hearts in his eyes when he shook his hand and told the brunette his name. They became friends instantly.

Last year, Garroth finally gained the courage to ask Laurence to the prom. He had no idea that his best friend of several years had been crushing hard on him ever since freshman year, as he gladly said he'd love to go with him. The night of the prom was the night they confessed. It was in the middle of the dance floor while dancing to a slow song.

    Cheesy, right?

It was the perfect setting to them, no matter how cliche it appeared to others. It wasn't much long later that they went on their first date. Laurence took Garroth to the fair that had conveniently came to town around the time they confessed.

If you thought the confession was cliche... Oh my Irene...

They had their first kiss on the ferris wheel, just as the sun was setting. It was so soft and innocent, as use of tongue was kept to a minimum. They held eachother close and enjoyed the moment. During the months to follow, they went on several dates. They went to the movies, they went to parks, they went to restaurants, they ate at fast food drive throughs, they walked around downtown, the went for coffee, and occasionally they simply went to one of their houses and cuddled.

And that brings us to today. Laurence placed a small kiss on Garroth's lips, pulling away slowly.

"Wanna go out after school?" Laurence asked. Garroth grinned and nodded. He loved when Laurence asked him on dates in person. It was the way he asked so casually and comfortably, and it made the butterflies in Garroth's stomach multiply.

"Where to?" The blonde asked, curious as to where Laurence would take him this time.

"I was thinking ice cream," the brunette responded. "Is that okay with you?"

Garroth's grin grew twice as large and he nodded rapidly, causing his boyfriend's lips to curve up into a large smile.

"Great! Meet me at the fountain out front when school let's out," Laurence said, receiving a small 'okay' from Garroth in response. The chocolate haired boy placed a kiss on the blonde's forehead before waving to him and walking off towards his next class.

Now that Garroth had something to motivate him, he was certain that his final few classes would go by quickly.

"After you~" Garroth sang, holding the door to the nearby ice cream shop open for his boyfriend. Laurence giggled and thanked him before walking in, Garroth trailing in behind him. A younger lady behind the counter greeted them both when they approached the counter. Garroth gazed behind the glass, scanning all the different ice cream flavors. He thought about how each one would taste. Chocolate would be rich, mint would be fresh, vanilla would be sweet. He finally set his mind on a scoop of strawberry, while Laurence decided to get mint chocolate chip. Garroth chose to mix in chocolate chips, and Laurence chose to mix in mini York candies.

    The guy loves his mint.

Laurence payed for the two ice creams and the two stepped aside to wait for their ice cream to be finished. A smirk spread across Laurence's lips and his eyes met Garroth's.

"Are you a dinosaur..?" He asked. Garroth raised an eyebrow at him and folded his arms over his chest.

"No," he answered simply. Laurence ignored his response.

"Because you're at the tricera-top of my list," he finished. Garroth's cheeks flushed and he cracked a small smile, lightly punching Laurence's arm. Both of them giggled and Laurence wrapped his arms around Garroth's shoulders, pulling him close.

"Kiss me if I'm wrong," Garroth started. Laurence smiled and nodded, gesturing for him to continue.

"Dinosaurs still exist... right?" He finished. Laurence's smile grew into a large grin and his cheeks rose to a dark pink color. He leaned forward and pressed his lips in to Garroth's for a few seconds before pulling away, slowly and carefully. The lady behind the counter told us that our ice creams were done, so we grabbed them off the countertop, thanking her before walking outside. They found a table just outside the shop and took a seat across from one another. Before Garroth could begin eating, Laurence reached across and pulled the blonde's ice cream cup towards him. Garroth pouted and reached for it back, but Laurence leaned further bakwards.

"Let me feed you," Laurence said. Garroth's pout grew larger and he sat back in his chair.

"I'm not a baby, Laurence," he whined.

"You don't seem to have a problem when I call you baby," Laurence teased, causing Garroth's cheeks to ignite into a shade of dark pink.

"Shut up," he muttered. Laurence giggled, scooping a bit of the strawberry ice cream into a spoon. He reached his hand out towards Garroth, motioning for him to open his mouth. The blonde reluctantly did so, allowing Laurence to carefully push the spoon into his mouth. Garroth closed his lips around the spoon and Laurence pulled it back out with a large grin. Garroth smiled as he swallowed the cold substance, reaching across and grabbing Laurence's ice cream. He followed the same procedure as Laurence had, feeding the brunette mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Both of them giggled as they fed each other back and forth, forgetting about every problem in the world. In this moment, they didn't care that Laurence's parents hated that their son was going out with Garroth. In this moment, they forgot about all the threats they received at school. In this moment, it was just them. It was as if no one else existed, and the world only consisted of the two of them.

And they wouldn't have it any other way...
