Chapter one

Maya's view

Do you know who Riley is? Riley is my best friend. Someone who is so close to me I would do anything for her. I always wonder what would happen without her in my life?
With no Riley. The bell rang after school and Riley and I usually use the subway to ride home because that's what the cool kids do. We got home and said hi to everyone. "Hello mother." Riley said to Topanga. "Sup Mrs. Matthews" I said. "Hello again father." Riley said to Corey who is also our middle school teacher. What a life. "I said bye to you like two minutes ago. I'm not sayin hi." I said . "Maya" Riley said with a little laugh at the end. I gave a smirk as Riley hugged her little brother Auggie and we went to her bedroom. Next to Riley's bed there is a window and a couch and that's where Riley and I sit after school and talk for hours before doing homework. There's one window that's always open. It's ment for me to come in and out of it. "Anything on your mind Maya ." Riley asks. "No" I say "but I know that there's something on your mind." "How'd you know "Riley says surprised. "I know because I love you Riley and your my best friend and I even know it's about Lucas." Riley's face was filled with surprise. "Ok." She says. " there has to be something on your mind." She continued. "Ok fine there is . What were you doing today at lunch without me." I blurted " Maya trust me on that I told you to. Your gonna love it. It's a surprise."Riley said as though she has said it a million times before. "You sure Riley" "Of course. You know I love you back!" Riley said and I smiled embarrassed. "Ladies!"️Farkle came through the window that I come into from. "️Farkle" Riley and I both say at the same time then I continue. "What Farkle" he then continues "I just wanted to say thank you Maya. You really helped me go through a rough time today." I was once again very embarrassed.Farkle left the room. And Riley once again was very confused. " What happened Maya !" Riley said " I'll tell you tomorrow I promise. I just don't feel right telling you now. But remember that I will tell you because I never have and never will keep a secret from you." I told her as Topanga walked into the room right when I finished my sentence. " it's getting pretty late. I need to you guys to start your homework then come and eat dinner. Maya you can join us for dinner too. I'm making squash would!" Riley then said "Maya will be here for dinner mom. She's gonna sleep over." I looked at her and knew that this was another one of her life lessons. " Riley I never said I am . Sorry Mrs.Matthew I'll just be leaving most-" I tried to get out of the window but Riley pulled me back in. "Riley you can't make decisions like that for anyone. And besides her mom has to-" Mrs.Matthews exclaimed as Riley cut her of and said "Tell her mom that she is with us tonight . We still have to much to talk about"
