Life is full of surprises, both big and small.

Kabuto walked through the halls of Otogakure's hospital, hardly sparing a glance at anything but his clipboard.
His grey hair shifted a little as he took a sharp turn, nurses hurrying out of his way. His onyx eyes flashed as he read over the description written on the clipboard, confusion written all over his face.
It was safe to say that he was a bit baffled at Orochimaru's request.
He had seen Itachi of the Akatsuki earlier that day, his cloak swishing as he left. He hadn't paid any mind, sure that Pein wanted to relay just another message about his Akatsuki ring. It had been fairly interesting to see him visit several times a month, each visit never more than an hour each.
But once the snake sannin had summoned him, and then asked him to heal a patient in the hospital, he was immediately suspicious. Kabuto had been instructed to do several things, some of which had left in traumatized, but nursing someone back to health, other than Orochimaru himself, was a first.
He approached a door on the left side of the hallway, noting how the medic nin checked up on every room except for the one he was standing in front of.
He pushed up his glasses, the light flashing in the lens, and proceeded to open the door with a soft click.
Kabuto didn't know what he expected to see, but it certainly wasn't a small black-haired child, sitting patiently on the hospital bed.

She hadn't really been sure what to expect, but it certainly wasn't him.
The pale snake man had told her to wait for a medic with glasses to come and check up on her before she explored the rest of the hospital.
She had expected another thin, stuttering nurse that would redress her wounds and leave her to her own devices, but someone else had shown up.
He had short gray hair pulled up in a ponytail, a pair of glasses sitting on his nose. His black eyes were closely studying her, his lips pulled into a thin line.
He didn't exactly have any special traits other than that, so she deemed him unimportant.
The man walked in, pausing at the foot of her bed, clearly accessing her. She stared right back, her gaze lingering on his gleaming round glasses.
The male in front of her gave out a sigh, tapping on his clipboard.
"My name is Kabuto." the man, Kabuto, said, glancing back at her. "And you must be Haru."
"Kabuto?" Haru blinked, still staring at the male. "Like the bug?"
Kabuto's left eyebrow twitched in annoyance as the Uchiha immediately felt satisfied, content with the fact that she had ticked off yet another medic nin that day.

Haru and Kabuto were close friends.
At least, that was what Haru called the two. Kabuto called them acquaintances.
Whatever that meant, anyway.
After their first meeting, it sort of clicked.
Haru would annoy the gray haired male to the best of her ablilty, and he would relieve all of his stress by giving her extremely long speeches on medical ninjutsu and it's history.
Not that she listened, anyway.

"Hey! Are you even listening?" Kabuto practically shrieked, his irritation getting the best of him.
Haru bluntly replied, "No."
His eye twitched, anger rolling off of him in waves, "Look here-"
"Nobody wants to see your ugly face, Buzzkill." she said, not bothering to look at the male as she hopped off of the chair and began walking off.
Kabuto began stammering in rage, his cool composure completely lost.
As she continued on her way back to her hospital room, she happily ignored all of Kabuto's calls from behind her as she hummed a happy tune.
They were the best of friends indeed.
