Coming from a large Burgundian family, Clotilde benefits from an excellent education and from a very young age he shows great prayer [his mother is a Christian]. On the death of his grandfather Gondovée, his heirs tear each other apart to increase their share of the inheritance. Clotilde's family was decimated and the young girl relegated to a convent.There she is still close to religion. In spite of his grief, Clotilde finds the strength to impose a truce on his two sons, who tear each other apart again. The Queen retires to Tours to live an ascetic existence. She dies there at about seventy years after a full life of piety, ambition, politics and violence. Clotilde was canonized a few years later.
