Leah's Perspective
"You gave Seth my number?" I asked Leon after I barged in his room. I was so confused when a random number started texting me. Eventually, Seth introduced himself.
"He kept on bugging me." Come on! It's not that hard to tell him I don't have a sim card!
"Why did he even want it?" I asked as I glanced at my phone. Another message arrived from Seth. This is absolutely insane. He's worse than Ivan when it comes to texting.
"Dunno. He just started to ask me for it after the third time you two met." Leon glanced at me before laughing. "Stop making that face."
"Are you seeing this?" I showed him the amount of messages Seth has sent me. "It's like he doesn't know how to stop!" Just then, my phone vibrated. I looked at it assuming it's from Seth, but no. It's from Ivan.

From: Ivan
Hey! Want to come by our house tomorrow after school? I bought this new game and I wanted to play it with you and Ash (ʃƪ^3^)
================================There he goes again with the emoticons. I smiled while I typed my reply.

To: Ivan
I'll check my sched before I accept your invite.
================================After I sent it, Leon snatched my phone. Reading the text, he raised an eyebrow at me.
"What?" I asked. He eyed me before typing something. He grinned then gave me back my phone. Checking whatever he typed, my eyes widened.
"If you refuse now, he won't have time with you. Hehe! I'm a genius." He smirked. Frowning, I sent Ivan another message explaining that Leon took my phone and sent the previous message.
"The fact that you let me see the message you sent proves you're an idiot." He should've thought about the possibility that I'll clear the misunderstanding up if he's a genius.
"What?!" I left his room before he could do anything to my phone. I smiled after entering my room. I'm glad that me and Leon are getting along compared to the day I moved here. I sure hope it would continue to be like this...
I heard my phone ring telling me that someone's calling. Checking the caller ID, I saw Ivan's name flash. Answering the call, I pressed the phone on my right ear.
"That message scared me! Is your brother that protective?!" He immediately said after I answered his call.
Giggling, I said, "He is, but he's a nice guy." Should I introduce them to each other tomorrow?
"That was a scary message! I thought you hated me!" He has a point. Even I'd be scared if I received a message like that.
"Don't worry. I won't hate you." He is my first friend here.
"Promise?" Somehow, I feel like he's smiling.
"Mhm. Promise." I looked at my notebook, a smile slowly creeping it's way on my lips.
"That's good to hear." He said. "Are you studying?" I heard the sound of papers being flipped on the background.
"Yeah. Our exams will start this Thursday." We only have one day more of lectures before examinations so it's safe to assume that most of our teachers will be having a quiz tomorrow. "You?"
"I'm trying to encourage myself. It isn't working though..." He blew a raspberry after saying that.
"I'm sure you'll pass even without studying." I wonder how Ashton's doing... Is he okay?
"Do you seriously have that much trust in my memory?" He asked.
"Of course! You managed to perfect our quiz last time even though we studied last minute." I had an acceptable amount of mistakes. Nonetheless, I passed.
"Hehe! Hearing you say that makes me want to study."
"Really? How come?" Maybe I accidentally said something motivating for him to want to study.
"Well, if I had a high score last time surely Mr. Lawrence will be expecting more from me." He said. Mr. Lawrence does have an abnormally high standard.
"Good luck with your studies, then." I smiled as I said that. When I turned around to sit on my bed, I saw the keychain that girl dropped. Hmm? Maybe Ivan knows something. "Can I ask you something?"
"Huh? Sure. What is it?" He asked.
"Do you know anyone that owns a blue starfish keychain with the initials CB?" I asked.
"Sounds familiar...I can't seem to remember where I saw it. Why the sudden question?" Would it be alright if I mention my encounter with that girl?
I stared at the keychain for a while before shaking my head. "I found it earlier while I was walking around campus." I lied.
"Let's bring it to the lost and found tomorrow." He suggested.
"Sure. Thanks!" It's not good to be curious about this so maybe cutting my connection with that girl would do Ashton good.
"Ivan!! I made you a portrait!" I heard someone say in the background. It sounds like a child's voice so it must be his little sister.
"Wait a minute..." He whispered. "That's nice. Who's this?" Ivan talked to his little sister. I found it cute because he made himself sound like a kid while talking to her.
"This is Nina!" Nina? Must be someone important to them.
"Ah...I see. I'll hang it on my wall." After he said that, I heard faint footsteps.
"Ivan, you sure are a good brother." I complimented him. I felt like something was off when he didn't say anything.
"Ivan?" I called out to him.
"A-ah! Sorry... That was Irish, my little sister." He tried to sound happy. I didn't buy it though.
"Did something happen? You sound different." I said.
"No. Nothing happened." He assured me. "I have to go. I need to hang this on my wall." Without giving me the time to properly bid him goodbye, he ended the call.
I looked at my phone before setting it down beside the stack of books on my table. I can't shake off the feeling that something's wrong with Ivan. Ma-
"Leah!" I dropped the pen I was holding when Leon slammed my door open. "Dinner!"
"Did you have to... what's with the angry look?" I asked after seeing the face he's making. Huffing, he stormed out of my room leaving the door open.
If this is about earlier, I don't feel sorry. He shouldn't have sent Ivan that message. If I didn't see it, it would've affected my friendship with Ivan.
Sighing, I picked up my pen that's now on the floor then placed it on the table. Tying my hair, I made my way towards the dinning room for dinner. This will be an awkward dinner...like last time. Leon will probably be the only one talking.
Standing near the entrance of the dinning room, I went in. Let's just get this over with.
