Y'know, I'm surprised I haven't posted this already, after all, I did write this in June of last year.
As stated in the title, this is a rewrite of Episode Shadow from Sonic Forces.
I really did go ham with writing Shadow like myself, huh?—————
Shadow was presented with a mission from G.U.N. The details were scarce, but one thing Shadow did know was that it involved the sabotage of one of Eggman's base.
For once, Eggman's choice in locations made some semblance of sense. The only way to actually reach the base was through a series of water slides, and if you fell off, the area punished you by throwing you straight into a shallow lake. Everyone at this point knew that Sonic both couldn't swim, and was terrified of water accordingly. To bad that this was Shadow.
Shadow was surfing down the water slide, using the robots floating down the streams as leverage to speed up.
The end of the water slides were visible, and before long, Shadow found his feet on dry ground. He wasn't able to think about that for long, however.
Shadow's ear flicked. Leaves rustling in the distance. Almost silent footsteps filled his ears. A creature jumped at him from behind, however, Shadow swung around, his elbow jutted outwards.
The creature, a jackal, was hit in the center of its stomach. It let out a pained yelp before landing on the ground feet away.
More jackals made their way out of the bushes, poised for attack. The last jackal that came out stepped forward, in front of the others.
The leader, Shadow assumed.
It started speaking. Shadow didn't have time for this. He rushed forward and attacked the jackals with speed and force that couldn't be rivaled, well except for Sonic. However, Sonic didn't hold near as much precision, after all, Shadow had been trained to be a weapon of mass destruction.
Soon, all of the jackals, with the exemption of the leader laid on the ground, most likely lifeless, Shadow thought.
The leader reached his arm out towards his comrades. It's amusing how similar they all look, they are most likely related. That would probably hurt all the more.
"You are weak. Just a waste of my time." Shadow intended to hurt the other. Hopefully the other would be completely broken, and he wouldn't mess with him again."
"I couldn't protect them... they all died... I'm weak? I can't be... I won't allow myself to be..." the jackal kept muttering.
"Good luck with that. You are exactly what I say. Weak." Shadow antagonized harshly.
"No. In honor of my family that has fallen, I will become something more! I will become strong enough to defeat you! I will not allow myself to be weak! I will avenge them!" The jackal declared before quickly fleeing.
"Good luck with that." Despite what Shadow said, in truth, he felt pity for the creature. It was going down the exact same path as he did years before. He could only hope that the worst didn't happen.
Shadow continued down the path towards Eggman's base. His task was to detonate a few small Binns near the main robot factory, and to scramble the mainframe.
He continued with his task, more than happy to continue with the partial destruction of the base; he needed an outlet for this sudden collecting anxiety.
After completing his task, months went by uneventfully. He had gotten almost no missions, and Eggman hadn't really attacked. Multiple others had told him to take the break, and have some fun, but the overwhelming peacefulness scared him.
