"Good morning Caroline." Rebekah dropped her books loudly on the table.
The thud made the other look up but she didn't really have a reaction for Rebekah.
"Hey..." Bonnie said slowly as she arrived to her seat with Elena.
"We'll be continuing with the group assignment from yesterday." Alaric informed everyone.
The girls moved unsure of how to act because neither of them expected Rebekah to come back to school, once they were all gathered in a group Caroline started making small doodles on her notebook while Elena exchanged long looks with Bonnie.
After 20 very uncomfortable minutes made of silence Rebekah crossed her arms with a confrontation at the tip of her tongue. "Where did the easy chattering go? Everyone was so endlessly talkative yesterday."
Elena looked down on the table instantly while Bonnie stared at the paper in her hand.
"No one expected to see you back here today." Caroline left her rambling notes for a second.
"This being a farce or not..." Rebekah tossed the pink pen that she kept from the day before to the middle of the table. "At the moment I'm not acquainted with anyone else in town."
"Weren't you like born along with the town?" Caroline gave her a sassy look.
"We were but we left a great deal of centuries ago and we've only now returned."
"Why now?" Caroline bluntly asked.
"Aren't you the one with all the information?" Rebekah tilted her head.
"I knew that a Royal carriage was strolling into town but I don't know why."
"I wanted to come home." Rebekah crossed her arms. "Do you perchance have a specific problem with that?"
Caroline shook her head. "No... not really. As I told you yesterday I'm only focused on Elena."
Elena sighed loudly.
"You don't like the attention?" Rebekah asked her.
"I rather be the one protecting instead of being the one overly protected."
"I'm the only girl in a family four, I know overbearing protection like no one." Rebekah related.
"I have a brother as well." Elena beamed. "He's two years younger than I am and his name is Jeremy."
"My younger brother Kol will be starting his scholar phase tomorrow." Rebekah carried on with the easy conversation.
"And... Klaus? He is the oldest, right?" Caroline asked with a casualty that was a bit forced.
Rebekah chuckled. "He acts like it but in reality he's not. How about you, do you have any siblings Caroline?"
"God no, it's just my mom and I." Caroline widened her eyes. "And that's all the family I need."
Rebekah looked over at Bonnie to keep the conversation going.
"It's just me..." she answered with a sad smile.
Somehow the vibe between the girls had changed and Rebekah even forgot how deceivable everyone had been just the day before, for a while the conversation was smooth and easy flowing and she even laughed when Bonnie explained how she found out that she was a witch.
Caroline always found the story of how Bonnie accidentally started a fire in church entertaining but her attention was trapped to the man arriving just now to the classroom.
"Hello..." Alaric neared the visitor with a squint.
It happened just as the bell announced the end of the class but regardless of the noise erupting Klaus kept his tone low. "Im Rebekah's brother, Klaus."
