"Breanne, sweetheart hurry up it takes two hours to get to the college and you have to be there by 3!" my mom yelled up to my room.

"Be down in just a sec mom!" I yelled back as I looked around, saying goodbye to all the memories in this room. My first sleepover, my first tooth, I was in this room my whole life. The walls changed from pink, to bright green, to a dark blue and now they're a light grey, but you can still see some blue bleed through at some spots. All that was left was an empty dresser, a nightstand and a bed opposite of the dresser. I was surely gonna miss this house, with the small crack in the mirror from me trying to kill a bug, a dent in the door from me ramming my head into it when I was little. This whole house was my life.

I grabbed my small bag and walked down the stairs and into the garage, getting in while holding back all the tears I had. My mom noticed and rubbed my arm gently, trying to comfort me while she could. We took off on the route to my college. The State University of New York, the highest education I could get on my full ride scholarship. As we arrived I realized how well groomed the place was, the trees perfectly trimmed, the grass mowed to perfection. It was like a dystopian book in real life.

We both got out after my mother parked, and grabbed my boxes and suitcases, checking in at the front desk, then going up to my room. It was incredibly crowded, tons of students running around frantically holding boxes, suitcases, pillows, you name it. As we approached my door, I smelled weed, that wasn't the best sign. I unlocked the door and walked in, "Knock knock."

A girl with brown curly hair and brown eyes looked at me and smirked softly while taking a hit off of a rolled leaf. She then passed it to a redhead beside her. "Hey there, you must be my roommate."

"Uh yeah," I watched them hesitantly but intrigued. My mother just shyly looked away and put my boxes down on my bed then grabbed my suitcase from me.

"I'm Alexis, what's your name doll?" she took another hit, finishing the roll of weed.

"Breanne.." I look at my mother.

"I'll be in the hallway when you're ready to say goodbye." She gives a weak smile and walks out, fiddling with her purse straps.

"Jesus, I thought the woman was about to have a heart attack," Alexis commented snarkily. I give her a small glare then stop.

"She's just not used to this. She has trouble with too many people."

She nods, "I see."

I nod then put the box down that I was holding and walked out to my mom. She looked at me with sympathy and all I could was smile softly. "If you want you can request a new roommate."

"I think I'll be ok, I'll just ignore her if need be," I pick at my fingernails gently.

"It's your choice, you are your own person now, I'm proud of whatever you do. But please don't come back as a druggie...I don't really care if you try it, because what college student doesn't experiment with new things, but don't be like your dad please..."

I nod, tearing up as I give her a hug. She hugs back tightly, sniffling quietly as I hold back more tears, trying to stay strong for my mother. She finally lets go, wiping her cheeks gently, then kisses my head. "Try to give me a call every night if possible, ok?"

"I will mom, you know I will." I hug her once more before we go our separate ways, her back to the car and me back into the dorm, where the two girls were doing more puffs then exchanging kisses with each other and giggling.

"Aye, goldilocks, you should totally come to the college party tonight, it'll be great I promise." Alexis giggled as she pulled away from the other girl.

I give a small smile, "Thank you, but no thank you. I should stay here and get ready for class tomorrow." I start unpacking everything, making my bed with a sunflower and blue sky bed sheets and quilt.

"Oh come on, let loose. Quit worrying so much- wait a minute, you're here on a scholarship aren't you?"

I nod slowly, unpacking my clothes into a closet and my shoes on the floor of it.

"You must be real smart then if you're here on scholarship. Maybe you could do my homework for me." Her and the ginger cackled in sync, thinking it was the funniest joke on earth.

"I would, but it's against the honor code...and I'm here on strict rules."

"Alright how about you come to the party, and after one drink if  you don't like it, I'll get you an Uber home, deal?"

"But-"

"Just do it," the redhead urged and with that I nodded.

"Now let's get you dress, because your outfits aren't gonna suffice for the occasion." She leads me over to her closet quickly.  I blush from embarrassment.

"What's wrong with my clothes?"

"They're boring. No one is gonna hook up with you if you look like grandma's curtains." she states blatantly then throws me a tight tube top and some skinny ripped jeans. "Get changed then we'll do your makeup."

"Where is this party exactly?" I say slowly stripping down to my bra and underwear.

"Club 21 down the street." she gets dressed into her own outfit, a tight black dress and some heels.

"I'm not 21 though...I still have a month until I turn 18-"

"Fake IDs go a long way doll." she hands me one that seems valid enough.

"Um...ok." I sit down at a vanity and she turns me around to face her, padding makeup all over my face then turns me back around to curl my pin straight hair. I see my makeup and my jaw almost drops, it looked amazing. The only thing I had ever been able to do was mascara and lip gloss. Alexis finishes my hair then grabs her wallet and phone. I do the same and she looks at me.
