I look at the clock. Shyt. 7:30! I was supposed to leave 10 minutes ago. I text angrily to Riley, “Thanks for making me late to class, babe. >:( but ditto. See you in a bit.”

I run out my bedroom door and then make sure I turn the security system on before locking the front door. I get into my car and pop in the CD. I can’t believe I’ve never heard this band before. And I’m such a fangirl. I arrive to school and surprising found a great parking spot in the garage. I walk to class and oh my goodness, why is everyone so beautiful? The guys here are so gorgeous, but all I could think about are those brown eyes, and oh God, that smile.

I get to class and sit in the back row, closest to the door. I am so happy that this is a lecture hall. I’m just really not in the mood to participate today especially when my mind is preoccupied with that boy. I can’t be crushing on someone I just met, can I? I’ve never been in love with anyone before. I don’t know what to feel! I mean I know I’ve had like at least 10 imaginary relationships with fictional characters, actors, and band members, but Riley is real. He’s really real. I guess that’s why I’m feeling this way so fast. I’ve had high expectations for guys my whole life and he happens to fit perfectly into that mold!

Oh, God. I snap out of my trance when I hear someone cough. I realize I’m in class still. 50 more minutes to go. I sighed. The professor lectures on everything from golgi bodies to centrioles to diseases of the heart. My attention goes in and out when I hear key words as the professor talks on and on. I knew 80% of the material today, perks of going to a medical academy for high school.

5 minutes before class ends, I get a text from Riley, “I’m still seeing you today?”

“You got it, love. In 5?” I text back.

“Yes, my dear,” he says.

“I like how we switched terms of endearment. I thought you were dear and I was love? Haha,” I say.

“Fancy words. Me likey ;D” he texts back.

“LOL. See you in a minute,” I press send.

I pack up my things and start out the building door. It is insanely bright outside and I stand for a moment to let my eyes adjust. Before I begin to walk, I hear my name called out by a familiar voice. “Ryland! Hey wait up, babe.” I turn around to see Riley.
