A/N: Another Historical Fiction Smackdown story. This one is inspired by images and quotes (quotes used are bold)
The crisp cool air breezed against Katelyn's cheeks as she flung her sword towards her opponent. The young brown-haired boy used his sword to block hers. Katelyn brushed her long wavy brown hair out of her face and struck again. This time she caused her opponent to stumble back a few steps but he regained his balance before falling completely over. Taking advantage of his brief disorientation, she knocked his weapon out of his hand and kicked him in the gut. This time, he fell on his back.
"Looks like I finally bested you," Katelyn said, pointing her sword towards his chest.
The boy grinned. "Not quite."
He picked up a nearby stick and swung it from behind Katelyn's ankles, causing her to fall on her back. The boy then picked up his sword and pointed it directly at her bosom.
"Well," Katelyn said as he leaned in closer to her, keeping her pinned. "I guess this would be the part where you finish it and slay me."
He shook his head and grinned. "There is a shortage of perfect breast in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours."
Katelyn rolled her eyes and shoved him away. "Get off me, you pervert."
Sitting on a nearby log to watch, Katelyn's two younger siblings giggled.
"Well, I almost bested you this time, Terrick," Katelyn said in a huff as she stood to her feet and picked up her sword.
"You have improved quite a bit I must say," Terrick admitted. "Pretty soon, you may become more skilled than me. It is unlikely, but possible."
"I'm already almost as skilled with the sword as you," Katelyn shot back. "And it didn't take me nearly as long to learn."
"True, you are good for a girl but," Terrick gazed up at his weapon, "there are some things only a man can do with a sword."
Katelyn rolled her eyes, yet again, and let out a disgusted snort. "Nice, Terrick."
Terrick then turned his head towards the log where the two children sat and said, "Okay Nicklaus, you're up. Let's see if you've been practicing with your sister."
Nicklaus eagerly leaped up and took the sword from his sister for his turn. Katelyn went and sat on the log next to her younger sister, Nicklaus's twin, Isolde. Both of her younger siblings had blonde wavy hair. Her brother's went just past his ears. Katelyn imagined if she cut Isolde's long hair to that length the two would be identical.
"So, do you think you and Terrick are going to get married soon?" Isolde asked as she twirled her handmade ragdoll.
Katelyn sighed. "I haven't really thought much about marriage to be honest."
