I Have A Dream; Abba.
Liam
The beach was quiet, as usual. The waves were calm, as usual. I was sitting on the beach, alone. That was unusual. Phoebe was always waiting for me. Anytime I saw her, she was always already here, waiting for me. I never saw where she came from. Maybe she was not coming to see me today? I did not know.
The sky was cloudy, it was early evening. I looked around me. I never really explored my surrounding every time I came here. I was always busy with some...distractions, you could say. The beach stretched from the far left side to the far right side, with cliffs at the edges of the left and right ends of the beach. Charlottesville is an island, so the water stretches for miles around the small town.
At the left side of the beach is a huge forest that covers almost half of Charlottesville, starting on the cliffs to the entrance of the town and spreading to the other edge of the small town. Half of Charlottesville was covered by trees, and the other half was buildings and humans.
The forest was so thick that, even in the middle of the day when the sun was at its peak, the forest still looked like it was midnight. According to some history books and lore, strange creatures of the night roamed this forest freely, and if, by any chance, a human encountered some, they never lived to tell the story.
After what seemed like hours of waiting, I finally saw her. She was smiling, as usual. Her long black hair was down and she was wearing a skirt and a blouse. That was unusual. She never wore those before. She always wore a dress. There were many usual things today.
'I thought you wouldn't come, you know' I told her.
She just smiled and sat down.
I proceeded to tell her about my day. I told her about Phyllix and Jaden's argument about which band was the best; the Beetles or the Queen. It was a tie. I told her about Amos, and that made her curious.
She turned to me with wide eyes. As if to ask what happened. I told her how he almost kissed me, and she became furious. She stood up and paced in front of me angrily, her mouth was moving but no words came out. I was beyond shocked. Never, not even once since I met her almost fourteen years ago, had I seen her behave like this. She was always smiling and quiet, only getting up when it was time to go. She stopped abruptly and turned to me. She walked to me slowly with a murderous gaze. I blinked twice. What was going on with her?
She looked like a devil in the skin of a girl. I shuffled back as she she came nearer to me. She was shaking with anger.
'A-are y-you okay?' I stuttered.
She snarled and held my shoulders tightly.
'That is gonna bruise' I thought.
'You. Are. Mine!', she said.
My mouth fell opened in shock. She could talk!
'You can talk!' I almost yelled.
She left me and continued pacing angrily. I followed her with my eyes, still very out of it in my shock. She could talk! Really! And she pretended for all these years. I was the chatterbox. I continued looking at her with hard eyes. The idiot could talk! It was when my mind finally registered what she had said that I was taken out of my confusion and thrown into an even bigger confusion. What did she mean by that? Not that I was complaining. Is that why I could not love anyone but her? Because I was hers? Really!
'What d-do y-you mean I-I'm yours?'
'You are mine, Liam. That's what I mean' she said through gritted teeth. Then she stated pacing even faster and grumbling loudly.
