Konan did the last foldings for her paper crane and held up the finished creation.

'. . . and that is how you make a paper crane,' she said. You clapped your hands together, eyes sparkling in amazement. You sent Konan a closed-eye smile.

'Sugoi desu ne! You're awesome with paper, Konan-chan!' you chirped, making her blush. She hid the bottom half of her face behind her high collar and looked away from you.

'Thanks,' she mumbled, before hearing the rustling of paper. Eyes drifting back to you, she sees you attempting to fold a paper crane. During the past few days, Konan has been trying to teach you how to do origami. For some odd reason, you had started to take a liking to paper, to the point where you would deliberately give Deidara papercuts.

She smiled at your concentrated face, which she found adorable. You had your eyebrows furrowed and your tongue sticking out as you worked on making a perfect paper crane like Konan's. The blue-haired woman looked around your room, and found a failed flapping paper crane on the floor. She picked it up and pulled on the tail to flap its uneven wings.

Even though it was not as perfect as hers, she found it satisfying enough. It's the effort that counts, right?

Konan heard you groan and looked up to see you throw another failed paper crane on the floor.

'Konan-chan, this is hopeless!' you whined, drawing her attention. Curling yourself up into a tight ball, you sulked. Konan smiled and scooted closer to you. She put her hand on top of your head and ruffled your (h/c) locks.

'Don't be upset ______-chan. You look prettier when you smile,' she said, her voice soft. You blinked at her, a pink tinge colouring your warm cheeks. You then pouted and averted your gaze to the side, avoiding her bright orange eyes.

Thinking that she knows how to cheer you up, the blue-haired woman infused her chakra into the flapping paper crane in her hand, bringing it to life. The paper crane teetered slightly as it flew over to you and pecked your cheek with its paper beak.

'Ah!' Eyes flickering to the side, you instantly lit up.

'Wow! That's so cool!' you exclaimed, holding your fists to your chest. Konan then opened her hands, butterflies emerging from her palms. They fluttered around the room.

'Cheer up ______-chan. Practice makes perfect,' she said. You turned to face her, a joyful smile gracing your features.

'Will I be able to become a paper angel like you then?' you asked, (e/c) pools twinkling happily. She nodded while maintaining the small smile on her lips.

'Yes, but you'll be a much prettier angel than me.'

Giggling, you stood up to play with the paper butterflies in the room. When you spotted your slightly-deformed paper crane amongst the crowd of paper butterflies, you grabbed it and walked back to Konan. Her eyes flickered up at you in curiosity.

You grinned. 'Ne Konan-chan, did you know that if you make 1000 paper cranes your wish will come true?' She nodded. 'Well, what do you wish for?'

She sighed quietly, eyes closing. 'That's a secret.'

'Mou, why do you always give me that answer?' you whined. Your friend simply gave you a closed-eye smile, causing you to laugh.

Konan chuckled in response. She finally realised how much her friend's cheerful smile had saved her many times. Her eyes softened. If anything, she wants to see that smile every day. She never wants that smile to die.

I wish that ______ will be happy forever.
