(Y/N POV)
"Hey, are you okay?" I heard a man's voice say.
I turned around to look at him and he jumped back a bit when he saw my tear covered and blood stained face. I saw him look down to my arm and his jaw dropped in shock. His expression quickly changed to a look of concern.
"Oh sh*t. Are you okay?" He said and I looked down.
"Hey can you please come with me? We need to get that bandaged up quick."
I stared down at the few remaining blood drops on the pavement, most of which had already been washed away by the pouring rain. I was so lost in thought that I didn't hear him.
He crouched down to my level. "Can you please come with me?" He asked again softly.
I took a moment and thought about it. Well, I don't even know this guy and he seems nice enough. I mean what do I have left to lose anyway?
I slowly nodded and he helped me stand up. I started to stand up shakily and he gently wrapped his arm around me to make sure I didn't fall.
"Are you okay coming with me to my house? It's not too far from here." He asked with a gentle tone in his voice.
I nodded in response.
We were walking quietly for a minute or two when he suddenly broke the silence.
"So... What's your name?" He asked, glancing over at me.
"(Y/N)." I replied quietly.
"Well it's nice to meet you. I'm Spencer." He paused for a second while looking up. "Oh we're almost there, it's up ahead, see?" He pointed at a house at the end of the street.
We walked up to his front door and he dug around his pocket for his keys before unlocking the door. He held the door open and let me go in first before walking inside. He gestured at a couch in the living room.
"Wanna go sit down for a minute?"
"I don't want to get blood on your furniture..." I spoke quietly, staring down at my feet.
"Hey it's no problem I'm sure it'll come out, just have a seat while I go grab some stuff."
I watched him disappear into the hallway. I sat down, careful to try and not get blood on anything.
A few minutes later he came back with a small first aid kit. He started to carefully wipe off the blood from the cuts with a wet towel and I winced as he applied a little bit of pressure.
He looked up and gently rested his hand on my shoulder to steady me. "Hey it's okay, it's gonna hurt a bit but we gotta make sure this doesn't get infected."
I nodded. I hadn't gotten a good look at him until now. His hair was wet from being drenched in the relentless rain and he was wearing a black hoodie. He was actually kind of cute. I smiled a bit until he put alcohol on the cuts.
I winced in pain and pulled my arm back.
He put his hand on my shoulder to steady me. "I told you it would hurt." He gave me a shy smile before going back to cleaning the cuts. He put a cold wet towel on the cuts and the pain started to fade a bit. He put some gauze over the deepest cuts and started to bandage my arm and hand up.
I looked down at the ground. "Thank you." I mumbled, careful not to meet his gaze. He gently tilted my chin up and our eyes met.
"Why were you doing that to yourself?" He asked softly. I noticed the concerned look on his face.
My eyes started to water as a single tear ran down my face. "My partner... they left me for some random girl. They're the only person I've ever loved and they just ditched me. They don't want anything to do with me...." I trailed off and wiped the tears from my eyes.
"You know what? If they're going to do something sh*tty like that then you didn't need them. You deserve better, (Y/N). Nobody deserves that." He spoke with a subtle anger in his eyes seemingly upset at my past partner for doing that to me.
I looked away and he sat on the couch beside me. "I guess." I mumbled.
"There's no doubt about it. They're a piece of sh*t to do that. You seem like a really nice person. I can't understand why they'd leave a beautiful lady like you." He said with a smile.
I blushed a bit and looked at my feet. "Thanks Spencer. Thank you so much for helping me." I spoke quietly.
"It's no problem, I saw you and I was worried. I'm glad I could help." He smiled.
"I don't know where I'm going to go tonight... They won't let me come back to our apartment."
He looked down before glancing up shyly. "Well... You could stay here for a while... if you want to."
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother..." I said in surprise. I didn't think he'd want me to stay.
"Of course I'm sure! I couldn't sleep at night if I sent you back out there."
"Well I'd love to stay here." I smiled at him.
