"What am I supposed to do about my stuff? I don't think I'm ready to go back there yet..." I trailed off.
"Don't worry about it for now. I'm sure I've got something you can wear for tonight and maybe tomorrow we can go out and get some clothes for you." He said.
"I don't have any money...". I looked down.
"Don't worry, I'll pay for it."
"What? No I don't want you to have to do that. You've already done so much by letting me stay here." I said.
He held up his hand, letting me know he wasn't going to change his mind. "I insist, just let me get you a few things."
"Well... I guess if you're sure it's not a problem." I said.
"Of course it's not. Now I'm going to go get you something you can wear for tonight and then I'll show you to your room.". He said before standing up.
He disappeared into the hallway and he soon came back with some clothing a few minutes later.
"It gets cold in here at night even with the heat on so I got you the warmest things I could find." He said while handing me the clothes.
I looked at them. He had handed me a plain grey t-shirt, some sweatpants, and an oversized black hoodie with a noose design on it that said 'Let's hang out.' I chuckled at the odd pun before looking back up at Spencer.
"Thank you." I said.
"He smiled. "No problem. Now let me show you to your room." He motioned for me to follow him.
I got up and followed him down the hall. Near the end of the hallway he pointed to his left.
"My room is right there. If you need anything at all don't hesitate to ask okay?" He said and I replied with a nod.
He pointed to the room right across from his on the right side of the hallway.
"And there's your room." He opened the door and let me walk in first. "Sorry about the mess I wasn't expecting company, it used to be a guest room but now it's more of a storage area so there's stuff everywhere. I can clean it up real quick if you'd like." He offered.
I shook my head. "It's not a problem at all, clutter doesn't bother me. But thank you."
"You wanna change and get settled in while I make some food? Is there anything you want to eat?" He asked.
"Um... sure if you don't mind. What do you have?" I asked and glanced around the room. I was surprised he was being so nice to me, nobody I've ever met has been so welcoming and kind to me. I looked back at him.
"Well I need to go to the store tomorrow so I don't have much right now but do you want a sandwich? I got ham and I got some roast beef if you like either of those." He offered.
"I, I um... roast beef sounds good if you don't mind." I replied.
He smiled. "Okay two roast beef sandwiches then. I'll be right back." He said before leaving the room.
I glanced around the small bedroom. There was a medium sized bed with black sheets and a crimson colored blanket over the top. It looked really nice actually. There was an old, worn looking oak dresser across the room from the bed. I walked over to it. I ran my fingers across the smooth surface, feeling all the knots in the wood. I opened the top drawer and inside I found a small box underneath a bunch of folded up band t-shirts. I was about to open it but, should I? It seemed like it was supposed to be hidden I probably shouldn't look right?
My curiosity got the best of me. I opened the small box and inside there was a small pile of women's jewelry. A few necklaces and... a ring box? I guess that meant that he had a girlfriend. What if she didn't want me to stay here? I don't want to cause any problems... My thoughts were cut off by Spencer entering the room. I glanced up at him and he had a downcast look on his face when he saw the box.
