•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••"OH ERIN," Ollie whispered, trying to wake his older sister up.
"Whatttt??" Erin grumbled, rolling over and pulling the blanket over her head.
"Dylan, Rudy, and I are all gonna go swimming," Ollie replied.
"Bro, it's so early, though," Erin complained, refusing to open her eyes.
"Erin, it's already noon. Time change, remember?" Dylan, Rudy's brother, responded, losing patience.
"Oh my God, are you kidding me?" Erin exclaimed. Erin was typically a morning person. She loved waking up early in the morning, especially to see the sunrise. She loved the feeling of waking up before the sun and feeling like she was the only person awake in the world. No one to text, no one to talk to, just her and the beginning signs of daylight peeking through the clouds.
Erin jumped out of bed and walked over to the drawer to grab her swimsuit. "Sorry, I didn't realize how late it was. Yeah, I'll join you guys by the pool. You guys go ahead, I'll meet you up there in a minute." Erin quickly went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and change into her light pink, cheetah print bikini.
"Okay then, bye!" Rudy said, shutting the door behind him, barely keeping up with their eager younger brothers.
Rudy and the brothers sat down at deck chairs, not too far from the pool. The pool deck was surprisingly empty considering it was nearly twelve-thirty in the afternoon by this point.
"So what's new with you, boys?" Rudy asked.
"Nothing much. We met some really cool people last night at the teen club." Dylan responded.
"Like this one girl, Lilah, she said she was from Alaska." Ollie chimed in.
"Bro, that's so awesome. I've always wanted to go to Alaska." Rudy said, grabbing the sunscreen out of his bag.
"We met this other girl named Charli, and she is such a good dancer. She won practically every game of Just Dance." Dylan said enthusiastically.
"Ooh, you guys have talked pretty highly about these girls." Rudy said, winking and nudging at the young boys who started to blush.
"Oh shut up, they are just friends. But are we going to talk about the way you and Erin have been macking on each other this whole trip?" Dylan snapped back at his brother.
Rudy was taken aback by their statement, "I have no idea what you guys are talking about." He threw his arms in the air dramatically.
"Please, we've seen the long stares exchanged between you two and the way..." Dylan started.
"Fine, I get it. Maybe things have been different between Erin and me but just drop it, bro. We're just friends." Rudy said.
"Why? She is totally into you, and we certainly know you have been in love with her since day one. Plus, our parents have been trying to set you guys up since the day you two were born, so they wouldn't object." Ollie stated, laughing.
"Yeah, whatever." Rudy said, pretending not to care. He thought to himself over and over in his head, Erin is into me? He quickly snapped out of his thoughts, when he noticed his best friend walking toward the pool, looking perfect as always.
"Hey, Erin! Over here!" Rudy waved, trying to grab her attention. Erin quickly spotted the trio sitting in the pool chairs.
Erin walked over and set her stuff down on the chair closest to Rudy. "What did I miss?"
"Dylan and Ollie were just telling me about all of their new girlfriends that they made at the teen club." Rudy said, poking fun at their younger brothers.
"Oh, nice! I'd love to meet these mystery women. Do any of them have a single older brother?" Erin said sarcastically. The boys looked amongst themselves and were not very amused by her joke. Noticing the awkward silence, Erin started again, "it was a joke guys, you can laugh!" The boys then pity laughed at her joke.
"It was not a very funny one," Rudy mumbled to himself.
"What?" Erin said, not being able to hear what Rudy said.
"Nothing! Let's go swimming." Rudy said, trying to change the subject.
"Race you to the water slide!" Dylan challenged Ollie.
Erin started to put on her sunscreen, "Hey Ru, can you put some sunscreen on my back?"
"Yeah, sure," Rudy responded, taking the bottle from Erin's hand. Erin pulled her long brunette hair over her shoulders as Rudy applied the cold sunscreen to her back and neck.
After Erin was sufficiently covered in sunscreen, they both walked over to the swimming pool. Rudy cannonballed into the swimming pool. Erin sat on the edge of the water as she watched her best friend embarrass himself in the pool. Rudy swam over to the edge was Erin was sitting and splashed her with water.
"Rudy, Stop! The water is cold!" Erin squealed while laughing.
"C'mon, it's not that bad." Rudy said, tugging on Erin's leg, trying to pull her into the water.
"Ru, stop you're going to pull me into the water," Erin said, attempting to free her leg from Rudy's grasp.
"That's the whole point, smartie pants." Rudy said, finally succeeding pulling Erin into the water, making her fall on top of him.
"RUDY! YOU'RE THE WORST!" Erin screamed, wiping the water out of her eyes.
Rudy started laughing, "I told you it's not that bad!"
"I'll never forgive you," Erin said, trying to act serious.
"Of course, you will." Rudy confidently stated.
Erin stepped closer to Rudy, matching his confidence, "And what makes you think that?"
"Because you're obviously in love with me, so you could never be mad at me," Rudy responded sarcastically picking up Erin.
Erin smirked and pushed away from Rudy, "Okay, that's it." The two started splashing each other like they were eight years old again.
Rudy stuck his arms out and pleaded, "Truce, truce!"
"Okay, fine! But on one condition, you have to apologize," Erin said, still splashing Rudy waiting for his apology.
"Never!!" Rudy yelled, standing his ground.
Erin then continued to splash Rudy.
"Fine, fine! I'm sorry for pulling you for the water." Rudy said.
"And?" Erin insisted.
"For saying that, you were in love with me." Rudy continued.
"Okay, then I guess I forgive you." Erin sighed.
"Will you still be my friend?" Rudy asked, stepping closer to Erin.
"Yeah, I guess I'll keep you around." Erin teased, making both of them laugh.
