•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••AFTER THEIR WATER FIGHT, Erin and Rudy saw their friends JD, Austin, Drew, and Bailey hanging out in the young adult area of the pool, so they decided to sit with them for a while.
"Hey, guys!" Rudy said, sitting down next to JD. The group exchanged their hey's and hi's, while Rudy and JD exchanged the special handshake they had created the other evening.
"Where's Maddy and Chase?" Erin asked, sitting down next to Rudy, adjusting her bathing suit top.
"They are hooking up somewhere," Drew responded nonchalantly.
"No way! How did I not realize they were into each other? Tell me more!" Erin gasped, leaning closer to the group while sipping on her smoothie.
"Not really much to tell besides the fact that they are both two hot, single people on a cruise boat with nothing better to do. Kind of like you and Rudy." Bailey simply stated back. Everyone else in the group started laughing, except for Rudy and Erin.
This statement made both of their faces turn bright red as Erin and Rudy slightly scooted away from each other, only making themselves look more guilty.
"Me and Rudy are not screwing each other!" Erin said adamantly.
"You're kidding! You could have fooled me." Austin exclaimed.
"So, you're telling me you guys have never thought about being together?" JD asked.
"Nope!" Erin said, half telling the truth. Until recently, Jairus always got in the way of that thought. Plus, Erin never wanted to do anything that could potentially jeopardize their friendship. Even if she was in love with Rudy, she thought Rudy was too good for her. He was kind, thoughtful, respectful, funny, all the things that Erin believed she did not deserve. Rudy was everything Jairus convinced her she didn't deserve.
Rudy added on to Erin's statement, "I've said it a million times, we're best friends, nothing more nothing less." You would think Rudy suppressing his feelings for Erin would make them go away, but it didn't. It probably only made them come back stronger. Erin is too good for me anyway, Rudy thought to himself.
"Whatever you say, man, but I certainly don't look at my best friends the way you and Erin look at each other. That's all." Drew finished throwing his hands in the air in defeat.
Erin and Rudy didn't know how to respond to that one. Drew was right, best friends don't look at each other like that, and they both knew that. Regardless of how they felt, they continued on the conversation with their friends.
